"Rememberthe sabbathday,to keepit holy.
By the seventhdayGodcompletedHis workwhichHe had done,and He restedon the seventhdayfrom allHis workwhichHe had done.
Then Godblessedthe seventhdayand sanctifiedit, becausein it He restedfrom allHis workwhichGodhad createdand made.
In thosedaysI sawin Judahsome who were treadingwinepresseson the sabbath,and bringingin sacksof grainand loading[them] on donkeys,as wellas wine,grapes,figsand allkinds of loads,and they brought[them] into Jerusalemon the sabbathday.So I admonished[them] on the daythey soldfood.
"So You madeknownto them Your holysabbath,And laiddownfor them commandments,statutesand law,ThroughYour servantMoses.
"Sixdaysyou are to doyour work,but on the seventhdayyou shall cease[from labor] sothat your oxand your donkeymay rest,and the sonof your femaleslave,as well as your stranger,may refreshthemselves.
The LORDspoketo Moses,saying,
Then Mosesassembledallthe congregationof the sonsof Israel,and saidto them, "Theseare the thingsthat the LORDhas commanded[you] to do:
"How blessedis the manwho doesthis,And the sonof manwho takesholdof it; Who keepsfrom profaningthe sabbath,And keepshis handfrom doinganyevil."
"Ifbecauseof the sabbath,you turnyour footFrom doingyour [own] pleasureon My holyday,And callthe sabbatha delight,the holy[day] of the LORDhonorable,And honorit, desistingfrom your [own] ways,From seekingyour [own] pleasureAnd speaking[your own] word,
Thussaysthe LORD,"Takeheedfor yourselves,and do not carryany loadon the sabbathdayor bringanything in through the gatesof Jerusalem.
"You shall not bringa loadout of your houseson the sabbathdaynordoanywork,but keepthe sabbathdayholy,as I commandedyour forefathers.
"But it will comeabout, ifyou listenattentivelyto Me," declaresthe LORD,"to bringnoloadin through the gatesof thiscityon the sabbathday,but to keepthe sabbathdayholyby doingnoworkon it,
SanctifyMy sabbaths;and they shall be a signbetweenMe and you, that you may knowthat I am the LORDyour God.'
Everyoneof you shall reverencehis motherand his father,and you shall keepMy sabbaths;I am the LORDyour God.
You shall keepMy sabbathsand revereMy sanctuary;I am the LORD.
For sixdaysworkmay be done,but on the seventhdaythere is a sabbathof completerest,a holyconvocation.You shall not doanywork;it is a sabbathto the LORDin allyour dwellings.
You shall keepMy sabbathsand reverenceMy sanctuary;I am the LORD.
Now while the sonsof Israelwere in the wilderness,they founda mangatheringwoodon the sabbathday.
Observethe sabbathdayto keepit holy,as the LORDyour Godcommandedyou.
