"Thus I will hardenPharaoh'sheart,and he will chaseafterthem; and I will be honoredthrough Pharaohand allhis army,and the Egyptianswill knowthat I am the LORD."And they didso.
"Then You performedsignsand wondersagainst Pharaoh,Against allhis servantsand allthe peopleof his land;For You knewthat they actedarrogantlytowardthem, And madea namefor Yourself as [it is] thisday.
and that you may tellin the hearingof your son,and of your grandson,howI madea mockeryof the Egyptiansand howI performedMy signsamong them, that you may knowthat I am the LORD."
But the LORDhardenedPharaoh'sheart,and he was not willingto letthem go.
Then the sonsof Israelwentand did[so]; justas the LORDhad commandedMosesand Aaron,sothey did.
Then the Egyptianstookup the pursuit,and allPharaoh'shorses,his chariotsand his horsemenwentin afterthem into the midstof the sea.
He caused their chariotwheelsto swerve,and He made them drivewith difficulty;so the Egyptianssaid,"Let us fleefrom Israel,for the LORDis fightingfor them against the Egyptians."
"For Pharaohwill sayof the sonsof Israel,'They are wanderingaimlesslyin the land;the wildernesshas shutthem in.'
When the kingof Egyptwas toldthat the peoplehad fled,Pharaohand his servantshada changeof hearttowardthe people,and they said,"Whatis thiswe have done,that we have letIsraelgofrom servingus?"
The LORDhardenedthe heartof Pharaoh,kingof Egypt,and he chasedafterthe sonsof Israelas the sonsof Israelwere goingout boldly.
"NowI knowthat the LORDis greaterthanallthe gods;indeed,it was provenwhenthey dealtproudlyagainstthe people."
Then I will takeyou for My people,and I will be your God;and you shall knowthat I am the LORDyour God,who broughtyou out from underthe burdensof the Egyptians.
Thussaysthe LORD,"By thisyou shall knowthat I am the LORD:behold,I will strikethe waterthat is in the Nilewith the staffthat is in my hand,and it will be turnedto blood.
"But I will hardenPharaoh'sheartthat I may multiplyMy signsand My wondersin the landof Egypt.
"The Egyptiansshall knowthat I am the LORD,when I stretchout My handon Egyptand bringout the sonsof Israelfrom their midst."
"But, indeed,for thisreasonI have allowed you to remain,in orderto showyou My powerand in orderto proclaimMy namethrough allthe earth.
"But I actedfor the sakeof My name,that it should not be profanedin the sightof the nationsamongwhomthey [lived], in whosesightI madeMyself knownto them by bringingthem out of the landof Egypt.
and say,'Thussaysthe LordGOD,"Behold,I am againstyou, O Sidon,And I will be glorifiedin your midst.Then they will knowthat I am the LORDwhen I executejudgmentsin her, And I will manifestMy holinessin her.
"When I makethe landof Egypta desolation,And the landis destituteof that whichfilledit, When I smiteallthose who livein it, Then they shall knowthat I am the LORD.
and you will comeup againstMy peopleIsraellike a cloudto coverthe land.It shall comeabout in the lastdaysthat I will bringyou againstMy land,sothat the nationsmay knowMe when I am sanctifiedthrough you before their eyes,O Gog."
"I will magnifyMyself, sanctifyMyself, and makeMyself knownin the sightof manynations;and they will knowthat I am the LORD."'
"Even allthe peopleof the landwill bury[them]; and it will be to their renown[on] the daythat I glorifyMyself," declaresthe LordGOD.
Then Mosessaidto Aaron,"It is whatthe LORDspoke,saying,By those who comenearMe I will be treatedas holy,And beforeallthe peopleI will be honored.'"So Aaron,therefore, keptsilent.
justas it is written,"GODGAVETHEM A SPIRITOF STUPOR,EYESTO SEENOT AND EARSTO HEARNOT, DOWNTO THIS VERYDAY."
For the Scripturesaysto Pharaoh,"FOR THISVERYPURPOSE I RAISEDYOU UP, TO DEMONSTRATEMY POWERIN YOU, AND THAT MY NAMEMIGHT BE PROCLAIMEDTHROUGHOUTTHE WHOLEEARTH."
So thenHe has mercyon whomHe desires,and He hardenswhomHe desires.
For it was of the LORDto hardentheir hearts,to meetIsraelin battlein orderthat he might utterlydestroythem, that they might receivenomercy,but that he might destroythem, justas the LORDhad commandedMoses.
I will drawout to you Sisera,the commanderof Jabin'sarmy,with his chariotsand his many[troops] to the riverKishon,and I will givehim into your hand.'"
