Therewas a certainmanwithouta dependent,havingneithera sonnora brother,yet therewas noendto allhis labor.Indeed,his eyeswere not satisfiedwith riches[and he never asked], "And for whomam I laboringand deprivingmyselfof pleasure?"Thistoois vanityand it is a grievoustask.
Then the LORDGodsaid,"It is not goodfor the manto be alone;I will makehim a helpersuitablefor him."
"Surelyeverymanwalksabout as a phantom;Surelythey makean uproarfor nothing;He amasses[riches] and does not knowwhowill gatherthem.
"And now,Lord,for whatdo I wait?My hopeis in You.
Sheoland Abaddonare neversatisfied,Norare the eyesof manever satisfied.
And I setmy mindto seekand exploreby wisdomconcerningallthat has been doneunderheaven.[It] is a grievoustask[which] Godhas givento the sonsof mento be afflictedwith.
Allthingsare wearisome;Manis not ableto tell[it]. The eyeis not satisfiedwith seeing,Noris the earfilledwith hearing.
Whenthereis a manwhohas laboredwith wisdom,knowledgeand skill,then he giveshis legacyto onewhohas not laboredwith them. Thistoois vanityand a greatevil.
Becauseallhis dayshis taskis painfuland grievous;evenat nighthis minddoes not rest.Thistoois vanity.
Then I lookedagainat vanityunderthe sun.
He who lovesmoneywill not be satisfiedwith money,norhe wholovesabundance[with its] income.Thistoois vanity.
After all,a kingwho cultivatesthe fieldis an advantageto the land.
Woeto those who addhouseto house[and] joinfieldto field,Untilthere is nomoreroom,So that you have to livealonein the midstof the land!
"Whydo you spendmoneyfor what is not bread,And your wagesfor whatdoes not satisfy?Listencarefullyto Me, and eatwhatis good,And delightyourselfin abundance.
"Cometo Me, allwho are wearyand heavy-laden,and I will give you rest.
"But Godsaidto him, 'You fool!This[very] nightyour soulis requiredof you; and [now] whowill own whatyou have prepared?'
For allthat is in the world,the lustof the fleshand the lustof the eyesand the boastful prideof life,is not from the Father,but is from the world.
