"The restwill hearand be afraid,and will neveragaindosuchan evilthingamongyou.
"Then allthe peoplewill hearand be afraid,and will not actpresumptuouslyagain.
Thosewho continue in sin,rebukein the presenceof all,sothat the restalsowill be fearful[of sinning].
When the scofferis punished,the naivebecomeswise;But when the wiseis instructed,he receivesknowledge.
Strikea scofferand the naivemay becomeshrewd,But reproveone who hasunderstandingand he will gainknowledge.
"Ifyou hearin oneof your cities,whichthe LORDyour Godis givingyou to livein, [anyone] saying[that]
"Then allthe menof his cityshall stonehim to death;so you shall removethe evilfrom your midst,and allIsraelwill hear[of it] and fear.

Joshuasaid,"Whyhave you troubledus? The LORDwill troubleyou thisday."And allIsraelstonedthem with stones;and they burnedthem with fireafter they had stonedthem with stones.
