"You shall not behavethustoward the LORDyour God,for everyabominableactwhichthe LORDhatesthey have donefor their gods;for they evenburntheir sonsand daughtersin the fireto their gods.
But he walkedin the wayof the kingsof Israel,and evenmade his sonpassthrough the fire,according to the abominationsof the nationswhomthe LORDhad drivenout from beforethe sonsof Israel.
and the AvvitesmadeNibhazand Tartak;and the Sepharvitesburnedtheir childrenin the fireto Adrammelechand Anammelechthe godsof Sepharvaim.
He didevilin the sightof the LORD,according to the abominationsof the nationswhomthe LORDdispossessedbeforethe sonsof Israel.
Then he tookhis oldestsonwhowas to reignin his place,and offeredhim as a burntofferingon the wall.And there camegreatwrathagainstIsrael,and they departedfrom him and returnedto their own land.
He didevilin the sightof the LORDaccording to the abominationsof the nationswhomthe LORDdispossessedbeforethe sonsof Israel.
Furthermore,allthe officialsof the priestsand the peoplewere veryunfaithful[following] allthe abominationsof the nations;and they defiledthe houseof the LORDwhichHe had sanctifiedin Jerusalem.
They even sacrificedtheir sonsand their daughtersto the demons,
"You shall not followthe massesin doing evil,norshall you testifyin a disputeso as to turnasideaftera multitudein order to pervert[justice];
"They builtthe highplacesof Baalthat are in the valleyof Ben-hinnomto cause their sonsand their daughtersto passthrough[the fire] to Molech,whichI had not commandedthem norhad it enteredMy mindthat they should dothisabomination,to cause Judahto sin.
"They have builtthe highplacesof Topheth,whichis in the valleyof the sonof Hinnom,to burntheir sonsand their daughtersin the fire,whichI did not command,and it did not comeinto My mind.
"When you offeryour gifts,when you cause your sonsto passthrough the fire,you are defilingyourselves with allyour idolsto this day.And shall I be inquiredof by you, O houseof Israel?As I live,"declaresthe LordGOD,"I will not be inquiredof by you.
Thus I will make your lewdnessand your harlotry[brought] from the landof Egyptto ceasefrom you, so that you will not liftup your eyesto them or rememberEgyptanymore.'
You shall not giveanyof your offspringto offerthem to Molech,norshall you profanethe nameof your God;I am the LORD.
You shall not dowhatis donein the landof Egyptwhereyou lived,norare you to dowhatis donein the landof CanaanwhereI am bringingyou; you shall not walkin their statutes.
"You shall also sayto the sonsof Israel:'Anymanfrom the sonsof Israelor from the alienssojourningin Israelwhogivesanyof his offspringto Molech,shall surelybe putto death;the peopleof the landshall stonehim with stones.
Does the LORDtakedelightin thousandsof rams,In tenthousandriversof oil?Shall I presentmy firstborn[for] my rebelliousacts,The fruitof my bodyfor the sinof my soul?
bewarethat you are not ensnaredto followthem, afterthey are destroyedbeforeyou, and that you do not inquireafter their gods,saying,'Howdo thesenationsservetheir gods,that I alsomay dolikewise?'
"You shall not actlikethistoward the LORDyour God.
sothat they may not teachyou to doaccording to alltheir detestablethingswhichthey have donefor their gods,so that you would sinagainst the LORDyour God.
"Do not sayin your heartwhen the LORDyour Godhas driventhem out beforeyou, 'Because of my righteousnessthe LORDhas broughtme in to possessthisland,'but [it is] because of the wickednessof thesenations[that] the LORDis dispossessingthem beforeyou.
"It is not for your righteousnessor for the uprightnessof your heartthat you are goingto possesstheir land,but [it is] becauseof the wickednessof thesenations[that] the LORDyour Godis drivingthem out beforeyou, in orderto confirmthe oathwhichthe LORDsworeto your fathers,to Abraham,Isaacand Jacob.
