The satraps,the prefects,the governorsand the king'shighofficialsgatheredaround[and] sawin regard to thesementhat the firehadnoeffecton the bodiesof these men norwas the hairof their headsinged,norwere their trousersdamaged,norhad the smellof fire[even] comeupon them.
He wentand foundhis bodythrownon the roadwith the donkeyand the lionstandingbesidethe body;the lionhad not eatenthe bodynortornthe donkey.
"Now,O LORDour God,I pray,deliverus from his handthat allthe kingdomsof the earthmay knowthat You alone,O LORD,are God."
That they may knowthat You alone,whose nameis the LORD,Are the MostHighoverallthe earth.
O LORD,Your handis liftedup [yet] they do not seeit. They see[Your] zealfor the peopleand are putto shame;Indeed,firewill devourYour enemies.
"Whenyou passthrough the waters,I will be with you; And through the rivers,they will not overflowyou. Whenyou walkthroughthe fire,you will not be scorched,Norwill the flameburnyou.
Thenthesemenwere tiedup in their trousers,their coats,their capsand their [other] clothes,and were castinto the midstof the furnaceof blazingfire.
Thenthe kingwas verypleasedand gaveordersfor Danielto be takenup out of the den.So Danielwas takenup out of the denand noinjurywhateverwas foundon him, becausehe had trustedin his God.
"Allthe commissionersof the kingdom,the prefectsand the satraps,the highofficialsand the governorshave consultedtogetherthat the kingshould establisha statuteand enforcean injunctionthat anyonewhomakesa petitionto anygodor manbesidesyou, O king,for thirtydays,shall be castinto the lions'den.
"But the veryhairsof your headare allnumbered.
"For the kingknowsaboutthesematters, and I speakto him alsowith confidence,sinceI am persuadedthat noneof these thingsescape his notice;for thishas not beendonein a corner.
"ThereforeI encourageyou to takesome food,for thisis for your preservation,for not a hairfrom the headof anyof you will perish."
