Proclaimon the citadelsin Ashdodand on the citadelsin the landof Egyptand say,"Assembleyourselves on the mountainsof Samariaand see[the] greattumultswithinher and [the] oppressionsin her midst.
"Tell[it] not in Gath,Proclaimit not in the streetsof Ashkelon,Orthe daughtersof the Philistineswill rejoice,The daughtersof the uncircumcisedwill exult.
We will findall[kinds] of preciouswealth,We will fillour houseswith spoil;
A graciouswomanattainshonor,And ruthlessmenattainriches.
Then I lookedagainat allthe actsof oppressionwhichwere being doneunderthe sun.And behold[I saw] the tearsof the oppressedand [that] they hadnooneto comfort[them]; and on the sideof their oppressorswas power,but they hadnooneto comfort[them].
"Againyou will plantvineyardsOn the hillsof Samaria;The planterswill plantAnd will enjoy[them].
"Declarein Egyptand proclaimin Migdol,Proclaimalso in Memphisand Tahpanhes;Say,'Takeyour standand getyourself ready,For the swordhas devouredthose aroundyou.'
"Declareand proclaimamong the nations.Proclaimit and liftup a standard.Do not conceal[it but] say,Babylonhas been captured,Belhas beenputto shame,Mardukhas beenshattered;Her imageshave beenputto shame,her idolshave beenshattered.'
But you, O mountainsof Israel,you will putforth your branchesand bearyour fruitfor My peopleIsrael;for they will sooncome.
and I will makethem onenationin the land,on the mountainsof Israel;and onekingwill be kingfor allof them; and they will nolongerbe twonationsand nolongerbe dividedinto twokingdoms.
When I would healIsrael,The iniquityof Ephraimis uncovered,And the evildeedsof Samaria,For they dealfalsely;The thiefentersin, Banditsraidoutside,
"I will also cutoffthe inhabitantfrom Ashdod,And him who holdsthe scepter,from Ashkelon;I will even unleashMy powerupon Ekron,And the remnantof the Philistineswill perish,"Saysthe LordGOD.
Hearthisword,you cowsof Bashanwhoare on the mountainof Samaria,Who oppressthe poor,who crushthe needy,Who sayto your husbands,"Bringnow, that we may drink!"
Thereforebecauseyou imposeheavyrenton the poorAnd exacta tributeof grainfrom them, [Though] you have builthousesof well-hewnstone,Yet you will not livein them; You have plantedpleasantvineyards,yet you will not drinktheir wine.
Woeto thosewho are at easein ZionAnd to those who [feel] securein the mountainof Samaria,The distinguishedmen of the foremostof nations,To whomthe houseof Israelcomes.
Do you putoffthe dayof calamity,And would you bringnearthe seatof violence?
So as to buythe helplessfor moneyAnd the needyfor a pair of sandals,And [that] we may sellthe refuseof the wheat?"
"Is there yeta manin the wickedhouse,[Along with] treasuresof wickednessAnd a shortmeasure[that is] cursed?
Now the Philistinestookthe arkof Godand broughtit from Ebenezerto Ashdod.
