So,on the next daywhen Agrippacametogetherwith Berniceamidgreatpomp,and enteredthe auditoriumaccompaniedby the commandersand the prominentmenof the city,at the commandof Festus,Paulwas broughtin.
And he displayedthe richesof his royalgloryand the splendorof his greatmajestyfor manydays,180days.
"Vanityof vanities,"saysthe Preacher,"Vanityof vanities!Allis vanity."
Your pomp[and] the musicof your harpsHave been broughtdownto Sheol;Maggotsare spreadout [as your bed] beneathyou And wormsare your covering.'
ThereforeSheolhas enlargedits throatand openedits mouthwithoutmeasure;And Jerusalem's splendor,her multitude,her din[of revelry] and the jubilantwithin her, descend[into it].
"In Tehaphnehesthe daywill be darkWhen I breaktherethe yokebarsof Egypt.Then the prideof her powerwill ceasein her; A cloudwill coverher, And her daughterswill gointo captivity.
"By the swordsof the mightyonesI will cause your hordesto fall;allof them are tyrantsof the nations,And they will devastatethe prideof Egypt,And allits hordeswill be destroyed.
"I will makethe landa desolationand a waste,and the prideof her powerwill cease;and the mountainsof Israelwill be desolatesothat noonewill passthrough.
Therefore, I will bringthe worstof the nations,and they will possesstheir houses.I will also make the prideof the strongonescease,and their holyplaceswill be profaned.
"The kingreflectedand said,'Is thisnot Babylonthe great,whichI myselfhave builtas a royalresidenceby the mightof my powerand for the gloryof my majesty?'
A strategicdaycamewhenHerodon his birthdaygavea banquetfor his lordsand military commandersand the leading menof Galilee;
On an appointeddayHerod,having puton his royalapparel,took his seaton the rostrumand [began] delivering an addressto them.
Nowwhen severaldayshad elapsed,KingAgrippaand Bernicearrivedat Caesareaand paid their respectsto Festus.
The kingstoodup and the governorand Bernice,and thosewho were sittingwith them,
But the Lordsaidto him, "Go,for he is a choseninstrumentof Mine,to bearMy namebeforethe Gentilesand kingsand the sonsof Israel;
and thosewho usethe world,as thoughthey did not make full useof it; for the formof thisworldis passing away.
For the sunriseswith a scorching windand withersthe grass;and its flowerfalls offand the beautyof its appearanceis destroyed;sotoothe rich manin the midst of his pursuitswill fade away.
For, "ALLFLESHIS LIKEGRASS,AND ALLITS GLORYLIKETHE FLOWEROF GRASS.THE GRASSWITHERS,AND THE FLOWERFALLS OFF,
For allthat is in the world,the lustof the fleshand the lustof the eyesand the boastful prideof life,is not from the Father,but is from the world.
