Nathanthen saidto David,"You are the man!Thussaysthe LORDGodof Israel,It is I who anointedyou kingoverIsraeland it is I who deliveredyou from the handof Saul.
The womansaid,"Whythen have you plannedsucha thingagainstthe peopleof God?For in speakingthiswordthe kingis as onewhois guilty,[in that] the kingdoes not bringbackhis banishedone.
And Davidspokethe wordsof thissongto the LORDin the daythat the LORDdeliveredhim from the handof allhis enemiesand from the handof Saul.
Who also bringsme out from my enemies;You even liftme abovethose who riseup against me; You rescueme from the violentman.
"Nowtherefore, thusyou shall sayto My servantDavid,'Thussaysthe LORDof hosts,"I tookyou from the pasture,from followingthe sheep,to be ruleroverMy peopleIsrael.
"Go,sayto Jeroboam,'Thussaysthe LORDGodof Israel,"BecauseI exaltedyou from amongthe peopleand madeyou leaderoverMy peopleIsrael,
He said,"I have not troubledIsrael,but you and your father'shouse[have], because you have forsakenthe commandmentsof the LORDand you have followedthe Baals.
"While your servantwas busyhereand there,he was gone."And the kingof Israelsaidto him, "Soshall your judgmentbe; you yourselfhave decided[it]."
He saidto him, "Thussaysthe LORD,'Becauseyou have letgoout of [your] handthe manwhom I had devotedto destruction,therefore your lifeshall gofor his life,and your peoplefor his people.'"
"I loveYou, O LORD,my strength."
Then Jeremiahthe prophetspokeallthesewordsto Zedekiahkingof Judahin Jerusalem
it is you, O king;for you have becomegreatand grownstrong,and your majestyhas becomegreatand reachedto the skyand your dominionto the endof the earth.
When He went ashore,He sawa largecrowd,and felt compassionfor them and healedtheir sick.
Samuelsaidto Saul,"You have actedfoolishly;you have not keptthe commandmentof the LORDyour God,whichHe commandedyou, for nowthe LORDwould have establishedyour kingdomoverIsraelforever.
Samuelsaid,"Is it not true, thoughyou were littlein your own eyes,you were [made] the headof the tribesof Israel?And the LORDanointedyou kingoverIsrael,
Then Samueltookthe hornof oiland anointedhim in the midstof his brothers;and the Spiritof the LORDcamemightilyupon Davidfrom that dayforward.And Samuelaroseand wentto Ramah.
Saulhurledthe spearfor he thought,"I will pinDavidto the wall."But Davidescapedfrom his presencetwice.
Saulthought,"I will giveher to him that she may becomea snareto him, and that the handof the Philistinesmay be against him." Therefore Saulsaidto David,"For a secondtimeyou may be my son-in-lawtoday."
Davidstayedin the wildernessin the strongholds,and remainedin the hillcountryin the wildernessof Ziph.And Saulsoughthim everyday,but Goddid not deliverhim into his hand.
When it was toldSaulthat Davidhad cometo Keilah,Saulsaid,"Godhas deliveredhim into my hand,for he shuthimself in by enteringa citywith double gatesand bars."
