So Davidarosefrom the ground,washed,anointed[himself], and changedhis clothes;and he cameinto the houseof the LORDand worshiped.Then he cameto his own house,and when he requested,they setfoodbefore him and he ate.
But when Davidsawthat his servantswere whisperingtogether, Davidperceivedthat the childwas dead;so Davidsaidto his servants,"Is the childdead?"And they said,"He is dead."
Then his servantssaidto him, "Whatis thisthingthat you have done?Whilethe childwas alive,you fastedand wept;but whenthe childdied,you aroseand atefood."
So Joabsentto Tekoaand broughta wisewomanfrom thereand saidto her, "Pleasepretendto be a mourner,and puton mourninggarmentsnow,and do not anointyourself with oil,but be like a womanwho has been mourningfor the deadmanydays;
Then Mephibosheththe sonof Saulcamedownto meetthe king;and he had neithercaredfor his feet,nortrimmedhis mustache,norwashedhis clothes,from the daythe kingdeparteduntilthe dayhe came[home] in peace.
So they broughtin the arkof the LORDand setit in its placeinsidethe tentwhichDavidhad pitchedfor it; and Davidofferedburntofferingsand peaceofferingsbeforethe LORD.
Then Davidthe kingwentin and satbeforethe LORD,and he said,"Whoam I, O LordGOD,and whatis my house,that You have broughtme thisfar?
Then Jobaroseand torehis robeand shavedhis head,and he fellto the groundand worshiped.
But he saidto her, "You speakas oneof the foolishwomenspeaks.Shall we indeedacceptgoodfrom Godand not acceptadversity?"In allthisJobdid not sinwith his lips.
Blessthe LORD,O my soul,And allthat is withinme, [bless] His holyname.
The LORDis compassionateand gracious,Slowto angerand aboundingin lovingkindness.
"I have becomemute,I do not openmy mouth,Becauseit is You who have done[it].
Come,let us worshipand bowdown,Let us kneelbeforethe LORDour Maker.
Do not be wisein your own eyes;Fearthe LORDand turnawayfrom evil.
Let your clothesbe whiteallthe time,and let not oilbe lackingon your head.
"But you, when you fast,anointyour headand washyour face
"You did not anointMy headwith oil,but she anointedMy feetwith perfume.
"Washyourself therefore, and anointyourself and puton your [best] clothes,and godownto the threshingfloor;[but] do not makeyourself knownto the manuntilhe has finishedeatingand drinking.
"Nowtherefore, pleasepardonmy sinand returnwith me, that I may worshipthe LORD."
So SamuelwentbackfollowingSaul,and Saulworshipedthe LORD.
