Then his servantscamenearand spoketo him and said,"My father,had the prophettoldyou [to do some] greatthing,would you not have done[it]? Howmuchmore[then], whenhe saysto you, 'Wash,and be clean'?"
He had him ridein his secondchariot;and they proclaimedbeforehim, "Bowthe knee!"And he sethim overallthe landof Egypt.
Now the servantsof the kingof Aramsaidto him, "Their godsare godsof the mountains,thereforethey were strongerthanwe; but ratherlet us fightagainstthem in the plain,[and] surelywe will be strongerthanthey.
His servantssaidto him, "Beholdnow,we have heardthat the kingsof the houseof Israelare mercifulkings,pleaselet us putsackclothon our loinsand ropeson our heads,and goout to the kingof Israel;perhapshe will saveyour life."
When Elishabecamesickwith the illnessof whichhe was to die,Joashthe kingof Israelcamedownto him and weptoverhim and said,"My father,my father,the chariotsof Israeland its horsemen!"
Elishasaw[it] and criedout, "My father,my father,the chariotsof Israeland its horsemen!"And he sawElijah nomore.Then he tookholdof his own clothesand torethem in twopieces.
Elishasenta messengerto him, saying,"Goand washin the Jordanseventimes,and your fleshwill be restoredto you and [you will] be clean."
She saidto her mistress,"I wishthat my masterwere with the prophetwhois in Samaria!Thenhe would curehim of his leprosy."
Then the kingof Israelwhen he sawthem, saidto Elisha,"My father,shall I killthem? Shall I killthem?"
So Hazaelwentto meethim and tooka giftin his hand,even everykind of goodthingof Damascus,fortycamels'loads;and he cameand stoodbeforehim and said,"Your sonBen-hadadkingof Aramhas sentme to you, saying,'Will I recoverfrom thissickness?'"
Washme thoroughlyfrom my iniquityAnd cleanseme from my sin.
Purifyme with hyssop,and I shall be clean;Washme, and I shall be whiterthansnow.
"Washyourselves, makeyourselves clean;Removethe evilof your deedsfrom My sight.Ceaseto do evil,
"'A sonhonors[his] father,and a servanthis master.Then ifI am a father,whereis My honor?And ifI am a master,whereis My respect?'saysthe LORDof hoststo you, O priestswho despiseMy name.But you say,'Howhave we despisedYour name?'
"Do not call[anyone] on earthyour father;for Oneis your Father,He who is in heaven.
Petersaidto Him, "Nevershall You washmy feet!"Jesusansweredhim, "IfI do not washyou, you havenopartwith Me."
and saidto him, "Go,washin the poolof Siloam"(whichis translated,Sent).Sohe went awayand washed,and came[back] seeing.
Nowwhydo you delay?Getup and be baptized,and wash awayyour sins,callingon His name.'
For sincein the wisdomof Godthe worldthroughits wisdomdid not [come to] knowGod,Godwas well-pleasedthroughthe foolishnessof the message preachedto savethosewho believe.
but Godhas chosenthe foolish thingsof the worldto shamethe wise,and Godhas chosenthe weak thingsof the worldto shamethe things which are strong,
For ifyou were to havecountlesstutorsin Christ,yet[you would] not [have] manyfathers,for in ChristJesusI became your fatherthroughthe gospel.
He savedus, not on the basisof deedswhichwe have donein righteousness,but accordingto His mercy,by the washingof regenerationand renewingby the HolySpirit,
let us draw nearwith a sincereheartin full assuranceof faith,having our heartssprinkled[clean] from an evilconscienceand our bodieswashedwith purewater.
Correspondingto that, baptismnowsavesyou-- not the removalof dirtfrom the flesh,but an appealto Godfor a goodconscience--throughthe resurrectionof JesusChrist,
I saidto him, "My lord,you know."And he saidto me, "Theseare the ones who comeout of the greattribulation,and they have washedtheir robesand made them whitein the bloodof the Lamb.
"Now, my father,see!Indeed,seethe edgeof your robein my hand!For in that I cutoffthe edgeof your robeand did not killyou, knowand perceivethat thereis noevilor rebellionin my hands,and I have not sinnedagainst you, though you are lyingin waitfor my lifeto takeit.
But he refusedand said,"I will not eat."However, his servantstogetherwith the womanurgedhim, and he listenedto them. So he arosefrom the groundand saton the bed.
Then Saulsaidto his servant,"Wellsaid;come,let us go."So they wentto the citywherethe manof Godwas.
