A hot-temperedmanstirsup strife,But the slowto angercalmsa dispute.
Pride[goes] beforedestruction,And a haughtyspiritbeforestumbling.
The beginningof strifeis [like] lettingout water,So abandonthe quarrelbeforeit breaksout.
Keepingawayfrom strifeis an honorfor a man,But anyfoolwill quarrel.
Do not goout hastilyto argue[your case]; Otherwise,whatwill you doin the end,When your neighborhumiliatesyou?
[Like] one who takesa dogby the earsIs he who passesby [and] meddleswith strifenot belonging to him.
Do not contendwith a manwithoutcause,Ifhe has doneyou noharm.
"By your greatwisdom,by your tradeYou have increasedyour richesAnd your heartis liftedup because of your riches--
Thussaysthe LordGOD,"Are you the oneof whomI spokein formerdaysthroughMy servantsthe prophetsof Israel,who prophesiedin thosedaysfor [many] yearsthat I would bringyou againstthem?
"Sonof man,setyour facetowardGogof the landof Magog,the princeof Rosh,Meshechand Tubal,and prophesyagainsthim
Persia,Ethiopiaand Putwith them, allof them [with] shieldand helmet;
"When the multitudeis carriedaway, his heartwill be liftedup, and he will cause tensof thousandsto fall;yet he will not prevail.
"Behold,as for the proudone, His soulis not rightwithin him; But the righteouswill liveby his faith.
"Furthermore,winebetraysthe haughtyman,So that he does not stayat home.He enlargeshis appetitelike Sheol,And he is like death,neversatisfied.He also gathersto himself allnationsAnd collectsto himself allpeoples.
then your heartwill becomeproudand you will forgetthe LORDyour Godwho broughtyou out from the landof Egypt,out of the houseof slavery.
But the brotherof humblecircumstances is to gloryin his high position;
But He givesa greatergrace.Therefore[it] says,"GODIS OPPOSEDTO THE PROUD,BUT GIVESGRACETO THE HUMBLE."
So Abimelechcameto the towerand foughtagainst it, and approachedthe entranceof the towerto burnit with fire.
