Then Shemaiahthe prophetcameto Rehoboamand the princesof Judahwhohad gatheredat Jerusalembecauseof Shishak,and he saidto them, "Thussaysthe LORD,You have forsakenMe, so I alsohave forsakenyou to Shishak.'"
Then Davidsaidto Gad,"I am in greatdistress.Let us nowfallinto the handof the LORDfor His merciesare great,but do not let me fallinto the handof man."
But the wordof Godcameto Shemaiahthe manof God,saying,
"As for you, my sonSolomon,knowthe Godof your father,and serveHim with a wholeheartand a willingmind;for the LORDsearchesallhearts,and understandseveryintentof the thoughts.Ifyou seekHim, He will let you findHim; but ifyou forsakeHim, He will rejectyou forever.
But the wordof the LORDcameto Shemaiahthe manof God,saying,
Now the actsof Rehoboam,from firstto last,are they not writtenin the recordsof Shemaiahthe prophetand of Iddothe seer,according to genealogicalenrollment?And [there were] warsbetween Rehoboamand Jeroboamcontinually.
and he wentout to meetAsaand saidto him, "Listento me, Asa,and allJudahand Benjamin:the LORDis with you when you are with Him. And ifyou seekHim, He will let you findHim; but ifyou forsakeHim, He will forsakeyou.
Then the Spiritof Godcameon Zechariahthe sonof Jehoiadathe priest;and he stoodabovethe peopleand saidto them, "ThusGodhas said,Whydo you transgressthe commandmentsof the LORDand do not prosper?Becauseyou have forsakenthe LORD,He has also forsakenyou.'"
The LORDwill not leavehim in his handOr let him be condemnedwhen he is judged.
"Your own wickednesswill correctyou, And your apostasieswill reproveyou; Knowtherefore and seethat it is eviland bitterFor you to forsakethe LORDyour God,And the dreadof Me is not in you," declaresthe LordGODof hosts.
"Now whenthispeopleorthe prophetora priestasksyou saying,'Whatis the oracleof the LORD?'then you shall sayto them, 'Whatoracle?'The LORDdeclares,I will abandonyou.'
"Your waysand your deedsHave broughtthesethingsto you. Thisis your evil.Howbitter!Howit has touchedyour heart!"
"It shall comeabout whenthey say,'Whyhas the LORDour Goddoneallthesethingsto us?' then you shall sayto them, 'As you have forsakenMe and servedforeigngodsin your land,soyou will servestrangersin a landthat is not yours.'
