"Afterwardyou will cometo the hillof Godwherethe Philistinegarrisonis; and it shall be as soon as you have comethereto the city,that you will meeta groupof prophetscomingdownfrom the highplacewith harp,tambourine,flute,and a lyrebeforethem, and they will be prophesying.
When middaywas past,they raveduntilthe time of the offeringof the [evening] sacrifice;but therewas novoice,nooneanswered,and noonepaidattention.
Now when the sonsof the prophetswho[were] at Jerichoopposite[him] sawhim, they said,"The spiritof Elijahrestson Elisha."And they cameto meethim and bowedthemselves to the groundbefore him.
Then the sonsof the prophetswho[were at] Bethelcameout to Elishaand saidto him, "Do you knowthat the LORDwill takeaway your masterfrom overyou today?"And he said,"Yes,I know;be still."
The sonsof the prophetswho[were] at JerichoapproachedElishaand saidto him, "Do you knowthat the LORDwill takeaway your masterfrom overyou today?"And he answered,"Yes,I know;be still."
Now fiftymenof the sonsof the prophetswentand stoodopposite[them] at a distance,while the twoof them stoodby the Jordan.
"But nowbringme a minstrel."And it cameabout, when the minstrelplayed,that the handof the LORDcameupon him.
When Elishareturnedto Gilgal,[there was] a faminein the land.As the sonsof the prophetswere sittingbeforehim, he saidto his servant,"Puton the largepotand boilstewfor the sonsof the prophets."
Now the sonsof the prophetssaidto Elisha,"Beholdnow,the placebeforeyou wherewe are livingis toolimitedfor us.
Davidwas thenin the stronghold,while the garrisonof the Philistines[was] thenin Bethlehem.
Davidand allIsraelwere celebratingbeforeGodwith all[their] might,even with songsand with lyres,harps,tambourines,cymbalsand with trumpets.
And with them [were] Hemanand Jeduthun[with] trumpetsand cymbalsfor those who should soundaloud, and [with] instruments[for] the songsof God,and the sonsof Jeduthunfor the gate.
Asaphthe chief,and secondto him Zechariah,[then] Jeiel,Shemiramoth,Jehiel,Mattithiah,Eliab,Benaiah,Obed-edomand Jeiel,with musical instruments,harps,lyres;also Asaph[played] loud-soundingcymbals,
I will inclinemy earto a proverb;I will expressmy riddleon the harp.
With the ten-stringedlute and with the harp,With resoundingmusicupon the lyre.
Pursuelove,yetdesire earnestlyspiritual[gifts], but especiallythat you may prophesy.
When they cameto the hillthere,behold,a groupof prophetsmethim; and the Spiritof Godcameupon him mightily,so that he prophesiedamongthem.
and they will greetyou and giveyou two[loaves] of bread,which you will acceptfrom their hand.
Now Saulchosefor himself 3,000men of Israel,of which 2,000were with Saulin Michmashand in the hillcountryof Bethel,while 1,000were with Jonathanat Gibeahof Benjamin.But he sentawaythe restof the people,eachto his tent.
Jonathansmotethe garrisonof the Philistinesthat was in Geba,and the Philistinesheardof [it]. Then Saulblewthe trumpetthroughoutthe land,saying,"Let the Hebrewshear."
Then Saulsentmessengersto takeDavid,but when they sawthe companyof the prophetsprophesying,with Samuelstanding[and] presidingoverthem, the Spiritof Godcameupon the messengersof Saul;and they alsoprophesied.
They answeredthem and said,"He is; see,[he is] aheadof you. Hurrynow,for he has comeinto the citytoday,for the peoplehave a sacrificeon the highplacetoday.
