In my distress I cried to יהוה, And He answered me.


I lift up my eyes to the hills; Where does my help come from?


I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the House of יהוה.”


I shall lift up my eyes Unto You who dwell in the heavens.


If it had not been יהוה who was on our side, Let Yisra’ĕl now say;


Those who trust in יהוה Are like Mount Tsiyon – It is not shaken, it remains forever.


When יהוה turns back the captivity of Tsiyon, We shall be like dreamers.


If יהוה does not build the house, Its builders have laboured in vain. If יהוה does not guard the city, The watchman has stayed awake in vain.


Blessed are all who fear יהוה, Who walk in His ways.


I am afflicted and dying from childhood; I have borne frightening matters from You; I am in despair.


So they set slave-masters over them to afflict them with their burdens, and they built for Pharaoh supply cities, Pithom and Ra‛amses.


And Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “Throw every son who is born into the river, and keep alive every daughter.”

Yehuḏah has gone into exile, Because of affliction and because of harsh labour. She has dwelt among nations, She has found no rest. All her pursuers have overtaken her Between narrow places.


“And they whored in Mitsrayim, they whored in their youth. There their breasts were handled, and there their maiden nipples were squeezed.


“When Yisra’ĕl was a child, I loved him, and out of Mitsrayim I called My son.


and give to her vineyards from there, and the Valley of Aḵor as a door of expectation. And there she shall respond as in the days of her youth, as in the day when she came up from the land of Mitsrayim.


Wherever they went out, the hand of יהוה was against them for evil, as יהוה had spoken, and as יהוה had sworn to them. And they were distressed – greatly.


And the displeasure of יהוה burned against Yisra’ĕl, and He sold them into the hand of Kushan-Rish‛athayim sovereign of Aram Naharayim. And the children of Yisra’ĕl served Kushan-Rish‛athayim eight years.


Now no blacksmith could be found in all the land of Yisra’ĕl, for the Philistines said, “Lest the Hebrews make swords or spears.”
