And David said to him: Thy blood be upon thy own head. For thy own mouth hath spoken against thee, saying: I have slain the Lord's anointed.


And he said to me: Stand over me, and kill me: For anguish is come upon me; and as yet my whole life is in me.


And he took the crown of their king from his head, the weight of which was a talent of gold, set with most precious stones: and it was put upon David's head. And the spoils of the city which were very great he carried away.


And he brought forth the king's son, and put the diadem upon him, and the testimony. And they made him king, and anointed him. And clapping their hands, they said, God save the king.


The crown is fallen from our head. Woe to us, because we have sinned!


For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again.


And Adonibezec said: Seventy kings, having their fingers and toes cut off, gathered up the leavings of the meat under my table. As I have done, so hath God requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.


And he called hastily to his armourbearer, and said to him: Draw thy sword, and kill me: lest it should be said that I was slain by a woman. He did as he was commanded, and slew him.


And the king said to Doeg: Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and fell upon the priests, and slew in that day eighty-five men that wore the linen ephod.
