So, standing over him, I killed him: for I knew that he could not live after the fall: and I took the diadem that was on his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither to thee, my lord.


The Lord hath repaid thee for all the blood of the house of Saul: because thou hast usurped the kingdom in his stead. And the Lord hath given the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thy evils press upon thee, because thou art a man of blood.


For on what day soever thou shalt go out and shalt pass over the brook Cedron, know that thou shalt be put to death. Thy blood shall be upon thy own head.


Thy own mouth shall condemn thee, and not I: and thy own lips shall answer thee.


Thou art ensnared with the words of thy mouth, and caught with thy own words.

Then David sent and treated with Abigail, that he might take her to himself for a wife.


And David said to Abisai: Kill him not. For who shall put forth his hand against the Lord's anointed, and shall be guiltless?
