² H1696Speak[H8761] H1121to the childrenH3478of IsraelH559, saying[H8800] H5414, Appoint out[H8798] H5892for you citiesH4733of refugeH1696, whereof I spake[H8765] H3027unto you by the handH4872of Moses:

³ H7523That the slayer[H8802] H5221that killeth[H8688] H5315any personH7684unawaresH1847and unwittinglyH5127may flee[H8800] H4733thither: and they shall be your refugeH1350from the avenger[H8802] H1818of blood.

⁴ H5127And when he that doth flee[H8804] H259unto oneH5892of those citiesH5975shall stand[H8804] H6607at the enteringH8179of the gateH5892of the cityH1696, and shall declare[H8765] H1697his causeH241in the earsH2205of the eldersH5892of that cityH622, they shall take[H8804] H5892him into the cityH5414unto them, and give[H8804] H4725him a placeH3427, that he may dwell[H8804]  among them.

⁵ H1350And if the avenger[H8802] H1818of bloodH7291pursue[H8799] H310afterH5462him, then they shall not deliver[H8686] H7523the slayer[H8802] H3027up into his handH5221; because he smote[H8689] H7453his neighbourH1097unwittinglyH1847 H8130, and hated[H8802] H8543him not beforetimeH8032 .

⁶ H3427And he shall dwell[H8804] H5892in that cityH5975, until he stand[H8800] H6440beforeH5712the congregationH4941for judgmentH4194, and until the deathH1419of the highH3548priestH834thatH3117shall be in those daysH7523: then shall the slayer[H8802] H7725return[H8799] H935, and come[H8804] H5892unto his own cityH1004, and unto his own houseH5892, unto the cityH5127from whence he fled[H8804] .

⁷ H6942And they appointed[H8686] H6943KedeshH1551in GalileeH2022in mountH5321NaphtaliH7927, and ShechemH2022in mountH669EphraimH7153, and KirjatharbaH2275, which is HebronH2022, in the mountainH3063of Judah.

⁸ H5676And on the other sideH3383JordanH3405by JerichoH4217eastwardH5414, they assigned[H8804] H1221BezerH4057in the wildernessH4334upon the plainH4294out of the tribeH7205of ReubenH7216, and RamothH1568in GileadH4294out of the tribeH1410of GadH1474, and GolanH1316in BashanH4294out of the tribeH4519of Manasseh.

⁹ H5892These were the citiesH4152appointedH1121for all the childrenH3478of IsraelH1616, and for the strangerH1481that sojourneth[H8802] H8432amongH5221them, that whosoever killeth[H8688] H5315any personH7684at unawaresH5127might flee[H8800] H4191thither, and not die[H8799] H3027by the handH1350of the avenger[H8802] H1818of bloodH5975, until he stood[H8800] H6440beforeH5712the congregation.
