² H5971Wherefore the peopleH7378did chide[H8799] H4872with MosesH559, and said[H8799] H5414, Give[H8798] H4325us waterH8354that we may drink[H8799] H4872. And MosesH559said[H8799] H7378unto them, Why chide[H8799] H5254ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt[H8762] H3068the LORD?

³ H5971And the peopleH6770thirsted[H8799] H4325there for waterH5971; and the peopleH3885murmured[H8686] H4872against MosesH559, and said[H8799] H5927, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought[H8689] H4714us up out of EgyptH4191, to kill[H8687] H1121us and our childrenH4735and our cattleH6772with thirst?

⁴ H4872And MosesH6817cried[H8799] H3068unto the LORDH559, saying[H8800] H6213, What shall I do[H8799] H5971unto this peopleH4592? they be almostH5619ready to stone[H8804]  me.

⁵ H3068And the LORDH559said[H8799] H4872unto MosesH5674, Go on[H8798] H6440beforeH5971the peopleH3947, and take[H8798] H2205with thee of the eldersH3478of IsraelH4294; and thy rodH5221, wherewith thou smotest[H8689] H2975the riverH3947, take[H8798] H3027in thine handH1980, and go[H8804] .

⁶ H5975Behold, I will stand[H8802] H6440beforeH6697thee there upon the rockH2722in HorebH5221; and thou shalt smite[H8689] H6697the rockH3318, and there shall come[H8804] H4325waterH5971out of it, that the peopleH8354may drink[H8804] H4872. And MosesH6213did[H8799] H5869so in the sightH2205of the eldersH3478of Israel.

⁷ H7121And he called[H8799] H8034the nameH4725of the placeH4532MassahH4809, and MeribahH7379, because of the chidingH1121of the childrenH3478of IsraelH5254, and because they tempted[H8763] H3068the LORDH559, saying[H8800] H3426, IsH3068the LORDH7130among us, or not?

⁸ H935Then came[H8799] H6002AmalekH3898, and fought[H8735] H3478with IsraelH7508in Rephidim.

⁹ H4872And MosesH559said[H8799] H3091unto JoshuaH977, Choose us out[H8798] H582menH3318, and go out[H8798] H3898, fight[H8734] H6002with AmalekH4279: to morrowH5324I will stand[H8737] H7218on the topH1389of the hillH4294with the rodH430of GodH3027in mine hand.

¹⁰ H3091So JoshuaH6213did[H8799] H4872as MosesH559had said[H8804] H3898to him, and fought[H8736] H6002with AmalekH4872: and MosesH175, AaronH2354, and HurH5927went up[H8804] H7218to the topH1389of the hill.

¹¹ H4872And it came to pass, when MosesH7311held up[H8686] H3027his handH3478, that IsraelH1396prevailed[H8804] H5117: and when he let down[H8686] H3027his handH6002, AmalekH1396prevailed[H8804] .

¹² H4872But MosesH3027' handsH3515were heavyH3947; and they took[H8799] H68a stoneH7760, and put[H8799] H3427it under him, and he sat[H8799] H175thereon; and AaronH2354and HurH8551stayed up[H8804] H3027his handsH259, the one on the one sideH259, and the other on the other sideH3027; and his handsH530were steadyH935until the going down[H8800] H8121of the sun.

¹³ H3091And JoshuaH2522discomfited[H8799] H6002AmalekH5971and his peopleH6310with the edgeH2719of the sword.

¹⁴ H3068And the LORDH559said[H8799] H4872unto MosesH3789, Write[H8798] H2146this for a memorialH5612in a bookH7760, and rehearse[H8798] H241it in the earsH3091of JoshuaH4229: for I will utterly[H8800] H4229put out[H8799] H2143the remembranceH6002of AmalekH8064from under heaven.

¹⁵ H4872And MosesH1129built[H8799] H4196an altarH7121, and called[H8799] H8034the nameH3071of it Jehovahnissi:
