2 Kings 6 - King James Bible with Strong Numbers

1 H1121And the sonsH5030of the prophetsH559said[H8799] H6440untoH477ElishaH4725, Behold now, the placeH3427where we dwell[H8802] H6862with thee is too strait for us.

2 H3212Let us go[H8799] H3383, we pray thee, unto JordanH3947, and take[H8799] H376thence every manH259aH6982beamH6213, and let us make[H8799] H4725us a placeH3427there, where we may dwell[H8800] H559. And he answered[H8799] H3212, Go[H8798]  ye.

3 H259And oneH559said[H8799] H2974, Be content[H8685] H3212, I pray thee, and go[H8798] H5650with thy servantsH559. And he answered[H8799] H3212, I will go[H8799] .

4 H3212So he went[H8799] H935with them. And when they came[H8799] H3383to JordanH1504, they cut down[H8799] H6086wood.

5 H259But as oneH5307was felling[H8688] H6982a beamH1270, the axe headH5307fell[H8804] H4325into the waterH6817: and he cried[H8799] H559, and said[H8799] H162, AlasH113, masterH7592! for it was borrowed[H8803] .

6 H376And the manH430of GodH559said[H8799] H575, WhereH5307fell[H8804] H7200it? And he shewed[H8686] H4725him the placeH7094. And he cut down[H8799] H6086a stickH7993, and cast[H8686] H1270it in thither; and the ironH6687did swim[H8686] .

7 H559Therefore said[H8799] H7311he, Take it up[H8685] H7971to thee. And he put out[H8799] H3027his handH3947, and took[H8799]  it.

8 H4428Then the kingH758of SyriaH3898warred[H8737] H3478against IsraelH3289, and took counsel[H8735] H5650with his servantsH559, saying[H8800] H6423, In suchH492and suchH4725a placeH8466shall be my camp.

9 H376And the manH430of GodH7971sent[H8799] H4428unto the kingH3478of IsraelH559, saying[H8800] H8104, Beware[H8734] H5674that thou pass[H8800] H2088not suchH4725a placeH758; for thither the SyriansH5185are come down.

10 H4428And the kingH3478of IsraelH7971sent[H8799] H4725to the placeH376which the manH430of GodH559told[H8804] H2094him and warned[H8689] H8104him of, and saved[H8738] H259himself there, not onceH8147nor twice.

11 H3820Therefore the heartH4428of the kingH758of SyriaH5590was sore troubled[H8735] H1697for this thingH7121; and he called[H8799] H5650his servantsH559, and said[H8799] H5046unto them, Will ye not shew[H8686] H4428me which of us is for the kingH3478of Israel?

12 H259And oneH5650of his servantsH559said[H8799] H113, None, my lordH4428, O kingH477: but ElishaH5030, the prophetH3478that is in IsraelH5046, telleth[H8686] H4428the kingH3478of IsraelH1697the wordsH1696that thou speakest[H8762] H2315in thy bedchamberH4904 .

13 H559And he said[H8799] H3212, Go[H8798] H7200and spy[H8798] H351whereH7971he is, that I may send[H8799] H3947and fetch[H8799] H5046him. And it was told[H8714] H559him, saying[H8800] H1886, Behold, he is in Dothan.

14 H7971Therefore sent[H8799] H5483he thither horsesH7393, and chariotsH3515, and a greatH2428hostH935: and they came[H8799] H3915by nightH5362, and compassedH5892the cityH5362about[H8686] .

15 H8334And when the servant[H8764] H376of the manH430of GodH6965was risen[H8800] H7925early[H8686] H3318, and gone forth[H8799] H2428, behold, an hostH5437compassed[H8802] H5892the cityH5483both with horsesH7393and chariotsH5288. And his servantH559said[H8799] H162unto him, AlasH113, my masterH6213! how shall we do[H8799] ?

16 H559And he answered[H8799] H3372, Fear[H8799] H7227not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

17 H477And ElishaH6419prayed[H8691] H559, and said[H8799] H3068, LORDH6491, I pray thee, open[H8798] H5869his eyesH7200, that he may see[H8799] H3068. And the LORDH6491opened[H8799] H5869the eyesH5288of the young manH7200; and he saw[H8799] H2022: and, behold, the mountainH4390was full[H8804] H5483of horsesH7393and chariotsH784of fireH5439round aboutH477Elisha.

18 H3381And when they came down[H8799] H477to him, ElishaH6419prayed[H8691] H3068unto the LORDH559, and said[H8799] H5221, Smite[H8685] H1471this peopleH5575, I pray thee, with blindnessH5221. And he smote[H8686] H5575them with blindnessH1697according to the wordH477of Elisha.

19 H477And ElishaH559said[H8799] H1870unto them, This is not the wayH2090, neither is thisH5892the cityH3212: follow[H8798] H310 H3212me, and I will bring[H8686] H376you to the manH1245whom ye seek[H8762] H3212. But he led[H8686] H8111them to Samaria.

20 H935And it came to pass, when they were come[H8800] H8111into SamariaH477, that ElishaH559said[H8799] H3068, LORDH6491, open[H8798] H5869the eyesH7200of these men, that they may see[H8799] H3068. And the LORDH6491opened[H8799] H5869their eyesH7200, and they saw[H8799] H8432; and, behold, they were in the midstH8111of Samaria.

21 H4428And the kingH3478of IsraelH559said[H8799] H477unto ElishaH7200, when he saw[H8800] H1them, My fatherH5221, shall I smite[H8686] H5221them ? shall I smite[H8686]  them ?

22 H559And he answered[H8799] H5221, Thou shalt not smite[H8686] H5221them : wouldest thou smite[H8688] H7617those whom thou hast taken captive[H8804] H2719with thy swordH7198and with thy bowH7760? set[H8798] H3899breadH4325and waterH6440beforeH398them, that they may eat[H8799] H8354and drink[H8799] H3212, and go[H8799] H113to their master.

23 H3739And he prepared[H8799] H1419greatH3740provisionH398for them: and when they had eaten[H8799] H8354and drunk[H8799] H7971, he sent them away[H8762] H3212, and they went[H8799] H113to their masterH1416. So the bandsH758of SyriaH935came[H8800] H3254no more[H8804] H776into the landH3478of Israel.

24 H310And it came to pass after thisH1130, that BenhadadH4428kingH758of SyriaH6908gathered[H8799] H4264all his hostH5927, and went up[H8799] H6696, and besieged[H8799] H8111Samaria.

25 H1419And there was a greatH7458famineH8111in SamariaH6696: and, behold, they besieged[H8802] H2543it, until an ass'sH7218headH8084was sold for fourscoreH3701pieces of silverH7255, and the fourth partH6894of a cabH1686of dove's dung[H8675] H3123 H2755 H2568for fiveH3701pieces of silver.

26 H4428And as the kingH3478of IsraelH5674was passing by[H8802] H2346upon the wallH6817, there cried[H8804] H802a womanH559unto him, saying[H8800] H3467, Help[H8685] H113, my lordH4428, O king.

27 H559And he said[H8799] H3068, If the LORDH3467do not help[H8686] H370thee, whenceH3467shall I help[H8686] H1637thee? out of the barnfloorH3342, or out of the winepress?

28 H4428And the kingH559said[H8799] H559unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered[H8799] H802, This womanH559said[H8804] H5414unto me, Give[H8798] H1121thy sonH398, that we may eat[H8799] H3117him to dayH398, and we will eat[H8799] H1121my sonH4279to morrow.

29 H1310So we boiled[H8762] H1121my sonH398, and did eat[H8799] H559him: and I said[H8799] H312unto her on the nextH3117dayH5414, Give[H8798] H1121thy sonH398, that we may eat[H8799] H2244him: and she hath hid[H8686] H1121her son.

30 H4428And it came to pass, when the kingH8085heard[H8800] H1697the wordsH802of the womanH7167, that he rent[H8799] H899his clothesH5674; and he passed by[H8802] H2346upon the wallH5971, and the peopleH7200looked[H8799] H8242, and, behold, he had sackclothH1004withinH1320upon his flesh.

31 H559Then he said[H8799] H430, GodH6213do[H8799] H3254so and more[H8686] H7218also to me, if the headH477of ElishaH1121the sonH8202of ShaphatH5975shall stand[H8799] H3117on him this day.

32 H477But ElishaH3427sat[H8802] H1004in his houseH2205, and the eldersH3427sat[H8802] H7971with him; and the king sent[H8799] H376a manH6440from beforeH4397him: but ere the messengerH935came[H8799] H559to him, he said[H8804] H2205to the eldersH7200, See[H8804] H1121ye how this sonH7523of a murderer[H8764] H7971hath sent[H8804] H5493to take away[H8687] H7218mine headH7200? look[H8798] H4397, when the messengerH935cometh[H8800] H5462, shut[H8798] H1817the doorH3905, and hold him fast[H8804] H1817at the doorH6963: is not the soundH113of his master'sH7272feetH310behind him?

33 H1696And while he yet talked[H8764] H4397with them, behold, the messengerH3381came down[H8802] H559unto him: and he said[H8799] H7451, Behold, this evilH3068is of the LORDH3176; what should I wait[H8686] H3068for the LORD any longer?
