³ H559And they said[H8799] H7971, If ye send away[H8764] H727the arkH430of the GodH3478of IsraelH7971, send[H8762] H7387it not emptyH7725; but in any wise[H8687] H7725return[H8686] H817him a trespass offeringH7495: then ye shall be healed[H8735] H3045, and it shall be known[H8738] H3027to you why his handH5493is not removed[H8799]  from you.

⁴ H559Then said[H8799] H817they, What shall be the trespass offeringH7725which we shall return[H8686] H559to him? They answered[H8799] H2568, FiveH2091goldenH2914emerods[H8675] H6076 H2568, and fiveH2091goldenH5909miceH4557, according to the numberH5633of the lordsH6430of the PhilistinesH259: for oneH4046plagueH5633was on you all, and on your lords.

⁵ H6213Wherefore ye shall make[H8804] H6754imagesH2914of your emerods[H8675] H6076 H6754, and imagesH5909of your miceH7843that mar[H8688] H776the landH5414; and ye shall give[H8804] H3519gloryH430unto the GodH3478of IsraelH7043: peradventure he will lighten[H8686] H3027his handH430from off you, and from off your godsH776, and from off your land.

⁶ H3513Wherefore then do ye harden[H8762] H3824your heartsH4714, as the EgyptiansH6547and PharaohH3513hardened[H8765] H3820their heartsH5953? when he had wrought wonderfully[H8694] H7971among them, did they not let the people go[H8762] H3212, and they departed[H8799] ?

⁹ H7200And see[H8804] H5927, if it goeth up[H8799] H1870by the wayH1366of his own coastH1053to BethshemeshH6213, then he hath done[H8804] H1419us this greatH7451evilH3045: but if not, then we shall know[H8804] H3027that it is not his handH5060that smote[H8804] H4745us: it was a chanceH1961that happened to us[H8804] .

¹⁰ H582And the menH6213did so[H8799] H3947; and took[H8799] H8147twoH5763milch[H8802] H6510kineH631, and tied[H8799] H5699them to the cartH3607, and shut up[H8804] H1121their calvesH1004at home:

¹³ H1053And they of BethshemeshH7114were reaping[H8802] H2406their wheatH7105harvestH6010in the valleyH5375: and they lifted up[H8799] H5869their eyesH7200, and saw[H8799] H727the arkH8055, and rejoiced[H8799] H7200to see[H8800]  it .

¹⁷ H2091And these are the goldenH2914emerodsH6430which the PhilistinesH7725returned[H8689] H817for a trespass offeringH3068unto the LORDH795; for AshdodH259oneH5804, for GazaH259oneH831, for AskelonH259oneH1661, for GathH259oneH6138, for EkronH259one;

¹⁸ H2091And the goldenH5909miceH4557, according to the numberH5892of all the citiesH6430of the PhilistinesH2568belonging to the fiveH5633lordsH4013, both of fencedH5892citiesH6521, and of countryH3724villagesH1419, even unto the greatH59stone of AbelH3240, whereon they set down[H8689] H727the arkH3068of the LORDH3117: which stone remaineth unto this dayH7704in the fieldH3091of JoshuaH1030, the Bethshemite.

¹⁹ H5221And he smote[H8686] H376the menH1053of BethshemeshH7200, because they had looked[H8804] H727into the arkH3068of the LORDH5221, even he smote[H8686] H5971of the peopleH2572fiftyH505thousandH7657and threescore and tenH582menH5971: and the peopleH56lamented[H8691] H3068, because the LORDH5221had smitten[H8689] H5971many of the peopleH1419with a greatH4347slaughter.

²⁰ H582And the menH1053of BethshemeshH559said[H8799] H3201, Who is able[H8799] H5975to stand[H8800] H6440beforeH6918this holyH3068LORDH430GodH5927? and to whom shall he go up[H8799]  from us?

²¹ H7971And they sent[H8799] H4397messengersH3427to the inhabitants[H8802] H7157of KirjathjearimH559, saying[H8800] H6430, The PhilistinesH7725have brought again[H8689] H727the arkH3068of the LORDH3381; come ye down[H8798] H5927, and fetch it up[H8685]  to you.
