For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.


Every morning I will put to silence all the wicked in the land; I will cut off every evildoer from the city of the Lord.


Away from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commands of my God!


But those who turn to crooked ways the Lord will banish with the evildoers. Peace be on Israel.


Do not drag me away with the wicked, with those who do evil, who speak cordially with their neighbours but harbour malice in their hearts.


you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, Lord, detest.


Away from me, all you who do evil, for the Lord has heard my weeping.


Even if they bring up children, I will bereave them of every one. Woe to them when I turn away from them!


‘But he replied, “Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.”


‘Then he will say to those on his left, “Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.


Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, “Sir, open the door for us.” ‘But he will answer, “I don’t know you or where you come from.”


But whoever loves God is known by God.


But now that you know God – or rather are known by God – how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?


Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: ‘The Lord knows those who are his,’ and, ‘Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.’
