Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Tziyon; the same is the city of David.


David said on that day, Whoever strikes the Yevusi, let him get up to the watercourse, and [strike] the lame and the blind, who are hated of David's soul. Therefore they say, There are the blind and the lame; he can't come into the house.


So David would not remove the ark of the LORD to him into the city of David; but David carried it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.


This was the reason why he lifted up his hand against the king: Shlomo built Millo, and repaired the breach of the city of David his father.


David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.


This is the reason of the levy which king Shlomo raised, to build the house of the LORD, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Yerushalayim, and Chatzor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.


But Par`oh's daughter came up out of the city of David to her house which [Shlomo] had built for her: then did he build Millo.


His servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and struck Yo'ash at the house of Millo, [on the way] that goes down to Silla.


For Yozakhar the son of Shim`at, and Yehozavad the son of Shomer, his servants, struck him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amatzyah his son reigned in his place.


He built the city round about, from Millo even round about; and Yo'av repaired the rest of the city.


He took courage, and built up all the wall that was broken down, and raised [it] up to the towers, and the other wall outside, and strengthened Millo [in] the city of David, and made weapons and shields in abundance.


The spring gate repaired Shallun the son of Kolchozeh, the ruler of the district of Mitzpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors of it, the bolts of it, and the bars of it, and the wall of the pool of Shelach by the king's garden, even to the stairs that go down from the city of David.


Yerushalayim, that is built as a city that is compact together;


Woe to Ari'el! Ari'el, the city where David encamped! Add year to year; let the feasts come around;


but if not, let fire come out from Avimelekh, and devour the men of Shekhem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shekhem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Avimelekh.


All the men of Shekhem assembled themselves together, and all the house of Millo, and went and made Avimelekh king, by the oak of the pillar that was in Shekhem.
