Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Tziyon; the same is the city of David.


David lived in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. David built round about from Millo and inward.


When your days are fulfilled, and you shall sleep with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who shall proceed out of your bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.


Otherwise it will happen, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Shlomo shall be counted offenders.


When Chadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Yo'av the captain of the army was dead, Chadad said to Par`oh, Let me depart, that I may go to my own country.


Shlomo slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rechav`am his son reigned in his place.

Then Shlomo assembled the elders of Yisra'el, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers' [houses] of the children of Yisra'el, to king Shlomo in Yerushalayim, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Tziyon.


They brought him on horses; and he was buried at Yerushalayim with his fathers in the city of David.


Yotam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Achaz his son reigned in his place.


Achaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Chizkiyahu his son reigned in his place.

For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was laid with his fathers, and saw decay.


*Brothers, I may tell you freely of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
