The man left there and told all the people he saw that Jesus had healed him. So the news about Jesus spread. And that is why Jesus could not enter a town if people saw him. Jesus stayed in places where people did not live. But people came from all the towns to the places where Jesus was.


The Jewish leaders in Jerusalem sent some priests and Levites {\cf2\super [8]} to John. {\cf2\super [9]} The Jews sent them to ask, “Who are you?”


“A man told me everything I have ever done. Come see him. Maybe he is the Christ. {\cf2\super [67]} ”


So some Jews said to the man that had been healed, “Today is the Sabbath. It is against our law for you to carry your bed on the Sabbath day.”


The Jews asked the man, “Who is the person that told you to pick up your bed and walk?”


Jesus was doing these things (healing) on the Sabbath day. {\cf2\super [79]} So the Jews began to do bad things to Jesus.


This made these Jews try harder to kill him. \{The Jews said\}, “First this man (Jesus) was breaking the law about the Sabbath day. {\cf2\super [80]} Then he said that God is his Father! He is making himself equal with God!”


So now the Pharisees asked the man, “How did you get your sight?”


The man answered, “I don’t know if he is a sinner. But I do know this: I was blind, and now I can see.”


The man answered, “This is a very strange thing. You don’t know where Jesus comes from. But he healed my eyes.


The Jewish leaders answered, “You were born full of sin! Are you trying to teach us?” And the Jewish leaders forced the man to leave.
