‘I am not able to,’  Joseph answered Pharaoh. ‘It is God who will give Pharaoh a favourable answer.’  ,


After the earthquake there was a fire,  but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was a voice, a soft whisper.


Then Asa cried out to the Lord his God,  ‘Lord, there is no one besides you to help the mighty and those without strength. Help us, Lord our God, for we depend on you,  and in your name we have come against this large army. Lord, you are our God. Do not let a mere mortal hinder you.’


They came with Zerubbabel,  Jeshua,  Nehemiah, Seraiah,  Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum, and Baanah. The number of the Israelite men included


When the builders had laid the foundation of the Lord’s temple, the priests, dressed in their robes and holding trumpets, and the Levites descended from Asaph,  holding cymbals, took their positions to praise the Lord, as King David of Israel had instructed.


Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak  began to rebuild God’s house in Jerusalem. The prophets of God  were with them, helping them.


Again I saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift,  or the battle to the strong,  or bread to the wise, or riches to the discerning, or favour to the skilful; rather, time and chance happen to all of them.


Woe to the rebellious children! This is the  Lord’s declaration. They carry out a plan,  but not mine; they make an alliance, but against my will, piling sin on top of sin.


until the Spirit  from on high is poured out on us. Then the desert will become an orchard, and the orchard will seem like a forest.

‘Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah: I am going to shake the heavens and the earth.


You are to tell him: This is what the Lord of Armies says: Here is a man whose name is Branch;  he will branch out from his place and build the Lord’s temple.


‘May the Lord, the God who gives breath to all,  , appoint a man over the community


Take the helmet  of salvation and the sword  of the Spirit   #– #which is the word of God.


It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you. These things have now been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you  by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven   #– #angels long to catch a glimpse of these things.


Jonathan said to the attendant who carried his weapons, ‘Come on, let’s cross over to the garrison of these uncircumcised men.  Perhaps the Lord will help us. Nothing can keep the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few.’


and this whole assembly will know that it is not by sword or by spear that the Lord saves,  for the battle is the Lord’s.  He will hand you over to us.’
