My skin and my flesh cling to my bones; I have escaped with only the skin of my teeth.


When they looked from a distance, they could barely recognise him. They wept aloud,  and each man tore his robe and threw dust into the air and on his head.


My skin blackens and flakes off, and my bones burn with fever.


His flesh wastes away to nothing, and his unseen bones stick out.


Just as many were appalled at you   – his appearance was so disfigured that he did not look like a man, and his form did not resemble a human being –


Our skin is as hot  as an oven from the ravages of hunger.


Nations writhe in horror before them; all faces turn pale.


Desolation, decimation, devastation! Hearts melt, knees tremble, insides churn, every face grows pale!


“We are wiping off even the dust of your town that clings to our feet as a witness against you.   Know this for certain: The kingdom of God has come near.”
