And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,


If anyone asks you, “Why are you untying it? ” say this: “The Lord needs it.” ’


‘The Lord needs it,’ they said.


Today in the city of David a Saviour  was born for you, who is the Messiah,  the Lord.


When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her  and said, ‘Don’t weep.’


and sent them to the Lord, asking, ‘Are you the one  who is to come, or should we expect someone else? ’


After this, Jesus and his disciples went to the Judean countryside, where he spent time with them and baptised.


So they came to John and told him, ‘Rabbi,  the one you testified about, and who was with you across the Jordan,  is baptising #– #and everyone is going to him.’


He sent the message to the Israelites, proclaiming the good news of peace through Jesus Christ #– #he is Lord of all.


For Christ did not send me to baptise, but to preach the gospel #– #not with eloquent wisdom, so that the cross  of Christ will not be emptied of its effect.


The first man was from the earth, a man of dust;  the second man is  from heaven.


None of the rulers of this age knew this wisdom, because if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.


For we are not proclaiming ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord,  and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’s sake.


My brothers and sisters, do not show favouritism as you hold on to the faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ.


And he has a name written on his robe and on his thigh: King of Kings and L ord of L ords.
