The angel of the Lord said to her, ‘Go back to your mistress and submit to her authority.’


I know, my God, that you test the heart  and that you are pleased with what is right.  I have willingly given all these things with an upright heart, and now I have seen your people who are present  here giving joyfully and  willingly to you.


‘A son honours his father, and a servant his master. But if I am a father, where is my honour? And if I am a master, where is your fear of me?  says the Lord of Armies to you priests, who despise my name.’ Yet you ask, ‘How have we despised your name? ’


‘The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light.


‘No one can serve two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.


For I too am a man under authority, having soldiers under my command.  I say to this one, “Go,” and he goes; and to another, “Come,” and he comes; and to my servant, “Do this! ” and he does it.’


Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts,


For I could wish  that I myself were cursed  and cut off  from Christ for the benefit of my brothers and sisters, my own flesh and blood.


I came to you in weakness,  in fear,  and in much trembling.


For he who is called by the Lord as a slave  is the Lord’s freedman. Likewise he who is called as a free man is Christ’s slave.


Indeed, this is our boast: The testimony  of our conscience  is that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially towards you, with godly sincerity and purity, not by human wisdom  but by God’s grace.


And his affection towards you is even greater as he remembers the obedience of all of you, and how you received him with fear and trembling.


Wives,  submit  , to your husbands  as to the Lord,


Grace be with all who have undying love for our Lord Jesus Christ.  ,


Therefore, my dear friends,  just as you have always obeyed,  so now, not only in my presence but even more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.


no longer as a slave, but more than a slave #– #as a dearly loved brother. He is especially so to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh  and in the Lord.


‘Therefore, fear the Lord and worship him in sincerity and truth.  Get rid of the gods your ancestors worshipped  beyond the River Euphrates and in Egypt, and worship the Lord.


when they observe your pure, reverent lives.
