For I have chosen  him so that he will command his children and his house after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just. This is how the Lord will fulfil to Abraham what he promised him.’


Then David said to his son Solomon, ‘Be strong and courageous,  and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He won’t leave you or abandon you  until all the work for the service of the Lord’s house is finished.


Give my son Solomon an undivided heart to keep and to carry out all your commands, your decrees, and your statutes,  and to build the building for which I have made provision.


Discipline your son while there is hope; don’t set your heart on being the cause of his death.  ,


Foolishness is bound to the heart of a youth; a rod of discipline will separate it from him.


Start a youth out on his way; even when he grows old he will not depart from it.


A rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a youth left to himself is a disgrace to his mother.


Discipline your child,  and it will bring you peace of mind and give you delight.


The living, only the living can thank you, as I do today; a father will make your faithfulness known to children.


so that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life in the land.   ,,


‘Only be on your guard and diligently watch yourselves,  so that you don’t forget  the things your eyes have seen and so that they don’t slip from your mind  as long as you live. Teach them to your children and your grandchildren.


Repeat them to your children.  Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.


Fathers,  do not exasperate  your children, so that they won’t become discouraged.


I recall your sincere faith  that first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice  and now, I am convinced, is in you also.


and you know that from infancy you have known the sacred Scriptures,  which are able to give you wisdom for salvation  through faith in Christ Jesus.


But if it doesn’t please you to worship the Lord, choose for yourselves today: Which will you worship #– #the gods your ancestors worshipped beyond the River Euphrates or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living?  As for me and my family, we will worship the Lord.’


Then Manoah asked, ‘When your words come true, what will be the boy’s responsibilities and work? ’
