Psalm 83

¹ God, don’t keep quiet!\par Don’t close your ears!\par Please say something, God.\par

² God, your enemies make plans against you,\par and they will soon attack.\par

³ They make secret plans against\par your people.\par Your enemies are discussing plans\par against the people you love.\par

⁴ The enemies are saying,\par “Come, let us destroy them completely.\par Then no person will ever again\par remember the name ‘Israel’.”\par

^5-7 God, all those people joined together\par to fight against you\par and the Agreement {\cf2\super [476]} \par you made with us.\par

⁸ Even the Assyrians joined those people.\par They made Lot’s descendants {\cf2\super [478]} \par very powerful.\par \i (SELAH {\cf2\super [479]})\i0 \par

⁹ God, defeat the enemy\par like you defeated Midian,\par like you defeated Sisera and Jabin\par near the Kishon River.\par

¹⁰ You defeated them at En-Dor.\par And their bodies rotted on the ground.\par

¹¹ God, defeat the enemy’s leaders.\par Do what you did to Oreb and Zeeb.\par Do what you did to Zebah and Zalmunna.\par

¹² God, those people wanted to force us\par to leave your land!\par

¹³ Make those people like a tumbleweed {\cf2\super [480]} \par blown by the wind.\par Scatter those people\par like the wind scatters straw.\par

¹⁴ Destroy the enemy\par like a fire destroys a forest,\par like a wild fire that burns the hills.\par

¹⁵ God, chase those people away\par like \{dust blown\} by a storm.\par Shake them \{and blow them away\}\par like a tornado.\par

¹⁶ God, teach those people\par so they may learn\par that they are really weak.\par Then they will want to worship\par your name!\par

¹⁷ God, scare those people\par and make them ashamed forever.\par Disgrace them and destroy them.\par

¹⁸ Then they will know that you are God.\par They will know your name is YAHWEH.\par They will know that you, God Most-High,\par are the God of the whole world!\par
