Justas it is written,"FOR YOUR SAKEWE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATHALLDAYLONG; WE WERE CONSIDEREDAS SHEEPTO BE SLAUGHTERED."
As when one plowsand breaksopenthe earth,Our boneshave been scatteredat the mouthof Sheol.
You giveus as sheepto be eatenAnd have scatteredus among the nations.
But for Your sakewe are killedalldaylong; We are consideredas sheepto be slaughtered.
He was oppressedand He was afflicted,Yet He did not openHis mouth;Like a lambthat is ledto slaughter,And like a sheepthat is silentbeforeits shearers,So He did not openHis mouth.
But I was like a gentlelambledto the slaughter;And I did not knowthat they had devisedplotsagainstme, [saying], "Let us destroythe treewith its fruit,And let us cuthim offfrom the landof the living,That his namebe rememberednomore."
But You knowme, O LORD;You seeme; And You examinemy heart's[attitude] towardYou. Dragthem offlike sheepfor the slaughterAnd setthem apartfor a dayof carnage!
"I will bringthem downlike lambsto the slaughter,Like ramstogetherwith malegoats.
"They will makeyou outcasts from the synagogue,but an houris comingfor everyonewho killsyou to thinkthat he is offeringserviceto God.
"But I do not considermy lifeof anyaccountas dearto myself,sothat I may finishmy courseand the ministrywhichI receivedfrom the LordJesus,to testify solemnlyof the gospelof the graceof God.
Nowthe passageof Scripturewhichhe was readingwas this:"HE WAS LEDAS A SHEEPTO SLAUGHTER;AND AS A LAMBBEFOREITS SHEARERIS SILENT,SOHE DOES NOT OPENHIS MOUTH.
Whyare we alsoin dangereveryhour?
I affirm,brethren,by the boastingin you whichI havein ChristJesusour Lord,I diedaily.
For, I think,Godhas exhibitedus apostleslast of all,as men condemned to death;becausewe have becomea spectacleto the world,bothto angelsand to men.
indeed,we hadthe sentenceof deathwithinourselvessothat we would not trustin ourselves,but in Godwho raisesthe dead;
Are they servantsof Christ?--I speakas if insane--I more so;in far morelabors,in far moreimprisonments,beatentimes without number,oftenin danger of death.
as unknownyetwell-known,as dyingyetbehold,we live;as punishedyetnot put to death,
that I may knowHim and the powerof His resurrectionand the fellowshipof His sufferings,being conformedto His death;
