But the ArameansfledbeforeIsrael,and Davidkilled700charioteersof the Arameansand 40,000horsemenand struckdownShobachthe commanderof their army,and he diedthere.
Then it happenedthat nightthat the angelof the LORDwentout and struck185000in the campof the Assyrians;and when men roseearlyin the morning,behold,allof them were dead.
And the LORDsentan angelwho destroyedeverymightywarrior,commanderand officerin the campof the kingof Assyria.So he returnedin shameto his own land.And when he had enteredthe templeof his god,someof his ownchildrenkilledhim therewith the sword.
At Your rebukethey fled,At the soundof Your thunderthey hurriedaway.
Then the channelsof waterappeared,And the foundationsof the worldwere laidbareAt Your rebuke,O LORD,At the blastof the breathof Your nostrils.
It is burnedwith fire,it is cutdown;They perishat the rebukeof Your countenance.
ThenMosesand the sonsof Israelsangthissongto the LORD,and said,"I will singto the LORD,for He is highlyexalted;The horseand its riderHe has hurledinto the sea.
"You blewwith Your wind,the seacoveredthem; They sanklike leadin the mightywaters.
Miriamansweredthem, "Singto the LORD,for He is highlyexalted;The horseand his riderHe has hurledinto the sea."
Then the angelof the LORDwentout and struck185000in the campof the Assyrians;and when men aroseearlyin the morning,behold,allof these were dead.
"When they becomeheatedup, I will serve[them] their banquetAnd makethem drunk,that they may becomejubilantAnd may sleepa perpetualsleepAnd not wakeup," declaresthe LORD.
"I will makeher princesand her wisemendrunk,Her governors,her prefectsand her mightymen,That they may sleepa perpetualsleepand not wakeup," Declaresthe King,whose nameis the LORDof hosts.
"You will be gluttedat My tablewith horsesand charioteers,with mightymenand allthe menof war,"declaresthe LordGOD.
Whocan standbeforeHis indignation?Whocan endurethe burningof His anger?His wrathis pouredout like fireAnd the rocksare brokenup by Him.
"Behold,I am againstyou," declaresthe LORDof hosts."I will burnup her chariotsin smoke,a swordwill devouryour younglions;I will cutoffyour preyfrom the land,and nolongerwill the voiceof your messengersbe heard."
Your shepherdsare sleeping,O kingof Assyria;Your noblesare lyingdown.Your peopleare scatteredon the mountainsAnd thereis nooneto regather[them].
"In that day,"declaresthe LORD,"I will strikeeveryhorsewith bewildermentand his riderwith madness.But I will watchoverthe houseof Judah,while I strikeeveryhorseof the peopleswith blindness.
So Davidtookthe spearand the jugof waterfrom [beside] Saul'shead,and they wentaway, but noonesawor knew[it], nordid any awake,for they were allasleep,becausea soundsleepfrom the LORDhad fallenon them.
