Behold,You desiretruthin the innermostbeing,And in the hiddenpartYou will make me knowwisdom.
He who walkswith integrity,and worksrighteousness,And speakstruthin his heart.
But the LORDsaidto Samuel,"Do not lookat his appearanceor at the heightof his stature,becauseI have rejectedhim; for God[sees] not as mansees,for manlooksat the outwardappearance,but the LORDlooksat the heart."
but [let it be] the hiddenpersonof the heart,with the imperishable qualityof a gentleand quietspirit,whichis preciousin the sightof God.
"Whohas putwisdomin the innermostbeingOrgivenunderstandingto the mind?
For I joyfully concurwith the lawof Godin the innerman,
For the LORDgiveswisdom;From His mouth[come] knowledgeand understanding.
Drawnearto Godand He will draw nearto you. Cleanseyour hands,you sinners;and purifyyour hearts,you double-minded.
But the Lordsaidto him, "Nowyou Phariseescleanthe outsideof the cupand of the platter;but insideof you, you are fullof robberyand wickedness.
Thereis nothingreliablein whatthey say;Their inwardpartis destruction[itself]. Their throatis an opengrave;They flatterwith their tongue.
"Since I know,O my God,that You trythe heartand delightin uprightness,I, in the integrityof my heart,have willinglyofferedallthese[things]; so nowwith joyI have seenYour people,who are presenthere,make[their] offeringswillinglyto You.
"I will makean everlastingcovenantwith them that I will not turnawayfrom them, to dothem good;and I will putthe fearof Me in their heartsso that they will not turnawayfrom Me.
O LORD,do not Your eyes[look] for truth?You have smittenthem, [But] they did not weaken;You have consumedthem, But they refusedto takecorrection.They have madetheir facesharderthanrock;They have refusedto repent.
Examineme, O LORD,and tryme; Testmy mindand my heart.
"But it is a spiritin man,And the breathof the Almightygivesthem understanding.
"But thisis the covenantwhichI will makewith the houseof Israelafterthosedays,"declaresthe LORD,"I will putMy lawwithinthem and on their heartI will writeit; and I will be their God,and they shall be My people.
For the uprightwill livein the landAnd the blamelesswill remainin it;
"Remembernow,OLORD,I beseechYou, howI have walkedbeforeYou in truthand with a wholeheartand have donewhatis goodin Your sight."And Hezekiahweptbitterly.
For our proud confidenceis this:the testimonyof our conscience,that in holinessand godlysincerity,not in fleshlywisdombut in the graceof God,we have conductedourselves in the world,and especiallytowardyou.
Dogood,O LORD,to those whoare goodAnd to those whoare uprightin their hearts.
Then Davidsaidto Nathan,"I have sinnedagainst the LORD."And Nathansaidto David,"The LORDalsohas takenawayyour sin;you shall not die.
I acknowledgedmy sinto You, And my iniquityI did not hide;I said,"I will confessmy transgressionsto the LORD";And You forgavethe guiltof my sin.Selah.
My enemiesspeakevilagainst me, "Whenwill he die,and his nameperish?"
Righteousare You, O LORD,that I would plead[my] casewith You; IndeedI would discussmattersof justicewith You: Whyhas the wayof the wickedprospered?[Why] are allthose who dealin treacheryat ease?
