Then Davidcameto his houseat Jerusalem,and the kingtookthe tenwomen,the concubineswhomhe had leftto keepthe house,and placedthem under guardand providedthem with sustenance,but did not goin to them. So they were shutup untilthe dayof their death,livingas widows.
Davidbuilttherean altarto the LORDand offeredburntofferingsand peaceofferings.Thus the LORDwas movedby prayerfor the land,and the plaguewas heldbackfrom Israel.
Then Hiramkingof Tyresentmessengersto Davidwith cedartreesand carpentersand stonemasons;and they builta housefor David.
But when Davidreturnedto blesshis household,Michalthe daughterof Saulcameout to meetDavidand said,"Howthe kingof Israeldistinguishedhimself today!He uncoveredhimself todayin the eyesof his servants'maidsas oneof the foolishonesshamelesslyuncovershimself!"
that the kingsaidto Nathanthe prophet,"Seenow,I dwellin a houseof cedar,but the arkof Goddwellswithintentcurtains."
Solomonofferedfor the sacrificeof peaceofferings,whichhe offeredto the LORD,22000oxenand 120,000sheep.So the kingand allthe sonsof Israeldedicatedthe houseof the LORD.
But he did not numberLeviand Benjaminamongthem, for the king'scommandwas abhorrentto Joab.
And my enemywill say,"I have overcomehim," [And] my adversarieswill rejoicewhenI am shaken.
"Do not grant,O LORD,the desiresof the wicked;Do not promotehis [evil] device,[that] they [not] be exalted.Selah.
I will extolYou, my God,O King,And I will blessYour nameforeverand ever.
O my God,in You I trust,Do not let me be ashamed;Do not let my enemiesexultover me.
And nowmy headwill be liftedup abovemy enemiesaroundme, And I will offerin His tentsacrificeswith shoutsof joy;I will sing,yes, I will singpraisesto the LORD.
SaveYour peopleand blessYour inheritance;Be their shepherdalso, and carrythem forever.
Do not let those who are wrongfullymy enemiesrejoiceover me; Nor let those who hateme withoutcausewinkmaliciously.
By thisI knowthat You are pleasedwith me, Becausemy enemydoes not shoutin triumphoverme.
I criedto Him with my mouth,And He was extolledwith my tongue.
Whyshould the nationssay,"Whereis their God?"Let there be knownamong the nationsin our sight,Vengeancefor the bloodof Your servantswhich has been shed.
We havebecomea reproachto our neighbors,A scoffingand derisionto those aroundus.
Allwho passalongthe wayClaptheir hands[in derision] at you; They hissand shaketheir headsAt the daughterof Jerusalem,"Is thisthe cityof whichthey said,The perfectionof beauty,A joyto allthe earth'?"
"NowI, Nebuchadnezzar,praise,exaltand honorthe Kingof heaven,for allHis worksare true and His waysjust,and He is ableto humblethose whowalkin pride."
"The officersalso shall speakto the people,saying,'Whois the manthat has builta newhouseand has not dedicatedit? Let him departand returnto his house,otherwisehe might diein the battleand anothermanwould dedicateit.
