Now there were twelve
the sonsof Leah:Reuben,Jacob'sfirstborn,then Simeonand Leviand Judahand Issacharand Zebulun;
"Gileadis Mine, and Manassehis Mine; Ephraimalso is the helmetof My head;Judahis My scepter.
Then Calebquietedthe peoplebeforeMosesand said,"We should by allmeansgoup and takepossessionof it, for we will surelyovercomeit."
Thesethen [were] their names:from the tribeof Reuben,Shammuathe sonof Zaccur;
from the tribeof Judah,Calebthe sonof Jephunneh;
"But My servantCaleb,becausehe hashada differentspiritand has followedMe fully,I will bringinto the landwhichhe entered,and his descendantsshall takepossessionof it.
Surelyyou shall not comeinto the landin whichI sworeto settleyou, exceptCalebthe sonof Jephunnehand Joshuathe sonof Nun.
But Joshuathe sonof Nunand Calebthe sonof Jephunnehremainedaliveout of thosemenwho wentto spyout the land.
Joshuathe sonof Nunand Calebthe sonof Jephunneh,of those who had spiedout the land,toretheir clothes;
For the LORDhad saidof them, "They shall surelydiein the wilderness."And not a manwas leftof them, exceptCalebthe sonof Jephunnehand Joshuathe sonof Nun.
"You shall takeoneleaderof every tribeto apportionthe landfor inheritance.
exceptCalebthe sonof Jephunneh;he shall seeit, and to him and to his sonsI will givethe landon whichhe has setfoot,becausehe has followedthe LORDfully.'
And thisregarding Judah;so he said,"Hear,O LORD,the voiceof Judah,And bringhim to his people.With his handshe contendedfor them, And may You be a helpagainsthis adversaries."
