We will also bringthe firstof our dough,our contributions,the fruitof everytree,the newwineand the oilto the priestsat the chambersof the houseof our God,and the titheof our groundto the Levites,for the Levitesare they who receivethe tithesin allthe ruraltowns.
The priest,the sonof Aaron,shall be with the Leviteswhen the Levitesreceivetithes,and the Levitesshall bringup the tenthof the tithesto the houseof our God,to the chambersof the storehouse.
On that daymenwere also appointedoverthe chambersfor the stores,the contributions,the firstfruitsand the tithes,to gatherinto them from the fieldsof the citiesthe portionsrequired by the lawfor the priestsand Levites;for Judahrejoicedoverthe priestsand Leviteswho served.
So allIsraelin the daysof Zerubbabeland Nehemiahgavethe portionsdue the singersand the gatekeepersas eachdayrequired,and setapartthe consecrated[portion] for the Levites,and the Levitessetapartthe consecrated[portion] for the sonsof Aaron.
AllJudahthen broughtthe titheof the grain,wineand oilinto the storehouses.
had prepareda largeroomfor him, whereformerlythey putthe grain offerings,the frankincense,the utensilsand the tithesof grain,wineand oilprescribedfor the Levites,the singersand the gatekeepers,and the contributionsfor the priests.
"Then you will knowthat I have sentthiscommandmentto you, that My covenantmay continuewith Levi,"saysthe LORDof hosts.
"Bringthe wholetitheinto the storehouse,so that there may be foodin My house,and testMe nowin this,"saysthe LORDof hosts,"ifI will not openfor you the windowsof heavenand pourout for you a blessinguntilit overflows.
"Behold,I Myselfhave takenyour fellowLevitesfrom amongthe sonsof Israel;they are a giftto you, dedicatedto the LORD,to performthe servicefor the tentof meeting.
"Bringthe tribeof Levinearand setthem beforeAaronthe priest,that they may servehim.
"Levya taxfor the LORDfrom the menof warwho wentout to battle,onein fivehundredof the personsand of the cattleand of the donkeysand of the sheep;
The one who is taughtthe wordis to shareallgood thingswith the one who teaches[him].
"They shall eatequalportions,except[what they receive] from the saleof their fathers'[estates].
And thoseindeedof the sonsof Leviwho receivethe priest's officehavecommandmentin the Lawto collect a tenthfrom the people,that is, from their brethren,althoughthese are descendedfrom Abraham.
