Then Mosessaidto Hobabthe sonof Reuelthe Midianite,Moses'father-in-law,"We are settingout to the placeof whichthe LORDsaid,I will giveit to you'; comewith us and we will doyou good,for the LORDhas promisedgoodconcerningIsrael."
The LORDappearedto Abramand said,"To your descendantsI will givethisland."So he builtan altarthereto the LORDwho had appearedto him.
for allthe landwhichyou see,I will giveit to you and to your descendantsforever.
On that daythe LORDmadea covenantwith Abram,saying,"To your descendantsI have giventhisland,From the riverof Egyptas faras the greatriver,the riverEuphrates:
"I will giveto you and to your descendantsafteryou, the landof your sojournings,allthe landof Canaan,for an everlastingpossession;and I will be their God."
"For You said,I will surelyprosperyou and makeyour descendantsas the sandof the sea,whichis toogreatto be numbered.'"
Shoutjoyfullyto the LORD,allthe earth.
O tasteand seethat the LORDis good;How blessedis the manwho takesrefugein Him!
O come,let us singfor joyto the LORD,Let us shoutjoyfullyto the rockof our salvation.
Now Jethro,the priestof Midian,Moses'father-in-law,heardof allthat Godhad donefor Mosesand for IsraelHis people,howthe LORDhad broughtIsraelout of Egypt.
Then Jethro,Moses'father-in-law,tooka burntofferingand sacrificesfor God,and Aaroncamewith allthe eldersof Israelto eata mealwith Moses'father-in-lawbeforeGod.
Then Mosesbadehis father-in-lawfarewell,and he wenthis way into his own land.
When they cameto Reueltheir father,he said,"Whyhave you come[back] so soontoday?"
Moseswas willingto dwellwith the man,and he gavehis daughterZipporahto Moses.
Now Moseswas pasturingthe flockof Jethrohis father-in-law,the priestof Midian;and he ledthe flockto the westsideof the wildernessand cameto Horeb,the mountainof God.
"So I have comedownto deliverthem from the powerof the Egyptians,and to bringthem up from that landto a goodand spaciousland,to a landflowingwith milkand honey,to the placeof the Canaaniteand the Hittiteand the Amoriteand the Perizziteand the Hiviteand the Jebusite.
"I alsoestablishedMy covenantwith them, to givethem the landof Canaan,the landin whichthey sojourned.
And manypeopleswill comeand say,"Come,let us goup to the mountainof the LORD,To the houseof the Godof Jacob;That He may teachus concerningHis waysAnd that we may walkin His paths."For the lawwill goforthfrom ZionAnd the wordof the LORDfrom Jerusalem.
"They will askfor the wayto Zion,[turning] their facesin its direction;they will comethat they may jointhemselves to the LORD[in] an everlastingcovenantthat will not be forgotten.
Thiswas the orderof marchof the sonsof Israelby their armiesas they setout.
"Godis not a man,that He should lie,Nora sonof man,that He should repent;Has He said,and will He not doit? Or has He spoken,and will He not makeit good?
"But He gavehim noinheritancein it, not evena footof ground,and [yet], even when he had nochild,He promisedthat HE WOULD GIVEIT TO HIM AS A POSSESSION,AND TO HIS DESCENDANTSAFTERHIM.
"The LORDyour Godwill bringyou into the landwhichyour fatherspossessed,and you shall possessit; and He will prosperyou and multiplyyou morethanyour fathers.
"So you shall keepHis statutesand His commandmentswhichI am givingyou today,that it may gowellwith you and with your childrenafteryou, and that you may livelongon the landwhichthe LORDyour Godis givingyou for alltime."
in the hopeof eternallife,whichGod,who cannot lie,promisedlong agesago,
sothat by twounchangeablethingsin whichit is impossiblefor Godto lie,we who have taken refugewould havestrongencouragementto take holdof the hopeset beforeus.
The Spiritand the bridesay,"Come."And let the one who hearssay,"Come."And let the one who is thirstycome;let the one who wishestakethe waterof lifewithout cost.
The descendantsof the Kenite,Moses'father-in-law,wentup from the cityof palmswith the sonsof Judah,to the wildernessof Judahwhichis in the southof Arad;and they wentand livedwith the people.
Now Heberthe Kenitehad separatedhimself from the Kenites,from the sonsof Hobabthe father-in-lawof Moses,and had pitchedhis tentas faraway as the oakin Zaanannim,whichis nearKedesh.
Saulsaidto the Kenites,"Go,depart,godownfrom amongthe Amalekites,so that I do not destroyyou with them; for you showedkindnessto allthe sonsof Israelwhen they cameup from Egypt."So the Kenitesdepartedfrom amongthe Amalekites.
