"But the Levitesshall camparoundthe tabernacleof the testimony,so that there will be nowrathon the congregationof the sonsof Israel.So the Levitesshall keepchargeof the tabernacleof the testimony."
Thus they are to keepchargeof the tentof meeting,and chargeof the holyplace, and chargeof the sonsof Aarontheir relatives,for the serviceof the houseof the LORD.
"But as for us, the LORDis our God,and we have not forsakenHim; and the sonsof Aaronare ministeringto the LORDas priests,and the Levitesattend to their work.
"Everymorningand eveningthey burnto the LORDburntofferingsand fragrantincense,and the showbreadis [set] on the cleantable,and the goldenlampstandwith its lampsis [ready] to lighteveryevening;for we keepthe chargeof the LORDour God,but you have forsakenHim.
"Thereforethussaysthe LORDof hostsconcerningthe prophets,'Behold,I am going to feedthem wormwoodAnd make them drinkpoisonouswater,For from the prophetsof JerusalemPollutionhas goneforthinto allthe land.'"
The prophetsprophesyfalsely,And the priestsruleon their [own] authority;And My peopleloveit so!But whatwill you doat the endof it?
Then Mosessaidto Aaronand to his sonsEleazarand Ithamar,"Do not uncoveryour headsnortearyour clothes,so that you will not dieand that He will not becomewrathfulagainstallthe congregation.But your kinsmen,the wholehouseof Israel,shall bewailthe burningwhichthe LORDhas broughtabout.
"But you shall appointthe Levitesoverthe tabernacleof the testimony,and overallits furnishingsand overallthat belongs to it. They shall carrythe tabernacleand allits furnishings,and they shall takecareof it; they shall also camparoundthe tabernacle.
Thus the sonsof Israeldid;according to allwhichthe LORDhad commandedMoses,sothey did.
Mosessaidto Aaron,"Takeyour censerand putin it firefrom the altar,and layincense[on it]; then bringit quicklyto the congregationand makeatonementfor them, for wrathhas goneforthfrom the LORD,the plaguehas begun!"
is it not enoughfor you that the Godof Israelhas separatedyou from the [rest of] the congregationof Israel,to bringyou nearto Himself, to dothe serviceof the tabernacleof the LORD,and to standbeforethe congregationto ministerto them;
So Mosesdepositedthe rodsbeforethe LORDin the tentof the testimony.
"Then the tentof meetingshall setout [with] the campof the Levitesin the midstof the camps;justas they camp,sothey shall setout, everymanin his placeby their standards.
The familiesof the Gershoniteswere to campbehindthe tabernaclewestward,
The familiesof the sonsof Kohathwere to campon the southwardsideof the tabernacle,
The leaderof the fathers'householdsof the familiesof Merari[was] Zurielthe sonof Abihail.They [were] to campon the northwardsideof the tabernacle.
Now those who were to campbeforethe tabernacleeastward,beforethe tentof meetingtoward the sunrise,are Mosesand Aaronand his sons,performingthe dutiesof the sanctuaryfor the obligationof the sonsof Israel;but the laymancomingnearwas to be putto death.
"From the sonsof Israel'shalf,you shall takeonedrawnout of every fiftyof the persons,of the cattle,of the donkeysand of the sheep,from allthe animals,and givethem to the Leviteswho keepchargeof the tabernacleof the LORD."
and from the sonsof Israel'shalf,Mosestookonedrawnout of every fifty,bothof manand of animals,and gavethem to the Levites,who keptchargeof the tabernacleof the LORD,justas the LORDhad commandedMoses.
"I have giventhe Levitesas a giftto Aaronand to his sonsfrom amongthe sonsof Israel,to performthe serviceof the sonsof Israelat the tentof meetingand to makeatonementon behalfof the sonsof Israel,so that there will be noplagueamong the sonsof Israelby their comingnearto the sanctuary."
