They saidto me, "The remnanttherein the provincewhosurvivedthe captivityare in greatdistressand reproach,and the wallof Jerusalemis brokendownand its gatesare burnedwith fire."
then I will cutoffIsraelfrom the landwhichI have giventhem, and the housewhichI have consecratedfor My name,I will castout of My sight.So Israelwill becomea proverband a bywordamong allpeoples.
So allthe armyof the Chaldeanswho[were with] the captainof the guardbrokedownthe wallsaroundJerusalem.
Then they burnedthe houseof Godand brokedownthe wallof Jerusalem,and burnedallits fortifiedbuildingswith fireand destroyedallits valuablearticles.
Now theseare the peopleof the provincewho cameup out of the captivityof the exileswhomNebuchadnezzarthe kingof Babylonhad carriedawayto Babylon,and returnedto Jerusalemand Judah,eachto his city.
"Let it be knownto the kingthat we have goneto the provinceof Judah,to the houseof the greatGod,whichis being builtwith hugestones,and beamsare being laidin the walls;and thisworkis goingon with greatcareand is succeedingin their hands.
Now theseare the headsof the provinceswholivedin Jerusalem,but in the citiesof Judaheachlivedon his own propertyin their cities--the Israelites,the priests,the Levites,the templeservantsand the descendantsof Solomon'sservants.
So I wentout at nightby the ValleyGatein the directionof the Dragon'sWelland [on] to the RefuseGate,inspectingthe wallsof Jerusalemwhichwere brokendownand its gateswhich were consumedby fire.
Then I saidto them, "You seethe badsituationwe are in, that Jerusalemis desolateand its gatesburnedby fire.Come,let us rebuildthe wallof Jerusalemsothat we will nolongerbe a reproach."
I saidto the king,"Let the kingliveforever.Whyshould my facenot be sadwhenthe city,the placeof my fathers'tombs,lies desolateand its gateshave been consumedby fire?"

Now it tookplacein the daysof Ahasuerus,the Ahasueruswho reignedfrom Indiato Ethiopiaover 127provinces,
We havebecomea reproachto our neighbors,A scoffingand derisionto those aroundus.
[Like] a citythat is brokeninto [and] withoutwallsIs a manwhohasnocontrolover his spirit.
"So I will pollutethe princesof the sanctuary,And I will consignJacobto the banand Israelto revilement.
"So nowlet Me tellyou whatI am going to doto My vineyard:I will removeits hedgeand it will be consumed;I will breakdownits walland it will becometrampledground.
I will makethem a terror[and an] evilfor allthe kingdomsof the earth,as a reproachand a proverb,a tauntand a cursein allplaceswhereI will scatterthem.
I will pursuethem with the sword,with famineand with pestilence;and I will makethem a terrorto allthe kingdomsof the earth,to be a curseand a horrorand a hissing,and a reproachamong allthe nationswhereI have driventhem,
The Chaldeansalso burnedwith firethe king'spalaceand the housesof the people,and they brokedownthe wallsof Jerusalem.
For thussaysthe LORDof hosts,the Godof Israel,"As My angerand wrathhave been pouredout on the inhabitantsof Jerusalem,soMy wrathwill be pouredout on you when you enterEgypt.And you will becomea curse,an objectof horror,an imprecationand a reproach;and you will seethisplacenomore."
"Goup through her vinerowsand destroy,But do not executea completedestruction;Stripawayher branches,For they are not the LORD'S.
So allthe armyof the Chaldeanswho[were] with the captainof the guardbrokedownallthe wallsaroundJerusalem.
In the daysof her afflictionand homelessnessJerusalemremembersallher preciousthingsThat were from the daysof old,When her peoplefellinto the handof the adversaryAnd noonehelpedher. The adversariessawher, They mockedat her ruin.
Her gateshave sunkinto the ground,He has destroyedand brokenher bars.Her kingand her princesare among the nations;The lawis nomore.Also,her prophetsfindNovisionfrom the LORD.
You have heardtheir reproach,O LORD,Alltheir schemesagainstme.
Remember,O LORD,whathas befallenus; Look,and seeour reproach!
I will laywasteyour citiesas well and will makeyour sanctuariesdesolate,and I will not smellyour soothingaromas.
You, however, I will scatteramong the nationsand will drawout a swordafteryou, as your landbecomesdesolateand your citiesbecomewaste.
