But ifyou do not obeyMe and do not carryout allthesecommandments,
The LORDhas donewhatHe purposed;He has accomplishedHis wordWhichHe commandedfrom daysof old.He has throwndownwithoutsparing,And He has caused the enemyto rejoiceoveryou; He has exaltedthe mightof your adversaries.
"But ifyou do not listento Me to keepthe sabbathdayholyby not carryinga loadand comingin through the gatesof Jerusalemon the sabbathday,then I will kindlea firein its gatesand it will devourthe palacesof Jerusalemand not be quenched."'"
Ifalso afterthesethingsyou do not obeyMe, then I will punishyou seventimesmorefor your sins.
Seeto it that you do not refuseHim who is speaking.For ifthosedid not escapewhen they refusedhim who warned[them] on earth,muchless[will] we [escape] who turn awayfrom Him who [warns] from heaven.
And it will be that everysoulthat does not heedthat prophetshall be utterly destroyedfrom amongthe people.'
"Ifyou do not listen,and ifyou do not takeit to heartto givehonorto My name,"saysthe LORDof hosts,"then I will sendthe curseupon you and I will curseyour blessings;and indeed,I have cursedthem [already], becauseyou are not taking[it] to heart.
"The LORDis righteous;For I have rebelledagainstHis command;Hearnow,allpeoples,And beholdmy pain;My virginsand my youngmenHave goneinto captivity.
"It shall comeabout that justas allthe goodwordswhichthe LORDyour Godspoketo you have comeupon you, sothe LORDwill bringupon you allthe threats,untilHe has destroyedyou from offthisgoodlandwhichthe LORDyour Godhas givenyou.
Whereverthey went,the handof the LORDwas against them for evil,as the LORDhad spokenand as the LORDhad swornto them, so that they were severelydistressed.
"Ifyou will not listento the voiceof the LORD,but rebelagainstthe commandof the LORD,then the handof the LORDwill be against you, [as it was] against your fathers.
"But ifyou turnawayand forsakeMy statutesand My commandmentswhichI have setbeforeyou, and goand serveothergodsand worshipthem,
The curseof the LORDis on the houseof the wicked,But He blessesthe dwellingof the righteous.
Yet they didnot obeyor inclinetheir ear,but walked,eachone,in the stubbornnessof his evilheart;therefore I broughton them allthe wordsof thiscovenant,whichI commanded[them] to do,but they didnot.'"
"And you will sayto them, 'Thussaysthe LORD,"Ifyou will not listento Me, to walkin My lawwhichI have setbeforeyou,
"The prophetswhowere beforeme and beforeyou from ancienttimesprophesiedagainstmanylandsand againstgreatkingdoms,of warand of calamityand of pestilence.
Now the captainof the bodyguardhad takenJeremiahand saidto him, "The LORDyour Godpromisedthiscalamityagainstthisplace;
"As it is writtenin the lawof Moses,allthiscalamityhas comeon us; yet we have not soughtthe favorof the LORDour Godby turningfrom our iniquityand givingattentionto Your truth.
Whenthey go,I will spreadMy netoverthem; I will bringthem downlike the birdsof the sky.I will chastisethem in accordance with the proclamationto their assembly.
"Go,inquireof the LORDfor me and the peopleand allJudahconcerningthe wordsof thisbookthat has been found,for greatis the wrathof the LORDthat burnsagainst us, becauseour fathershave not listenedto the wordsof thisbook,to doaccording to allthat is writtenconcerningus."
thussaysthe LORD,"Behold,I am bringingevilon thisplaceand on its inhabitants,[even] allthe curseswrittenin the bookwhichthey have readin the presenceof the kingof Judah.
"So I gavethem overto the stubbornnessof their heart,To walkin their own devices.
They camein and tookpossessionof it, but they did not obeyYour voiceor walkin Your law;they have donenothingof allthat You commandedthem to do;therefore You have made allthiscalamitycomeupon them.
