Norshall you gleanyour vineyard,norshall you gatherthe fallenfruitof your vineyard;you shall leavethem for the needyand for the stranger.I am the LORDyour God.
Yet gleaningswill be leftin it like the shakingof an olivetree,Two[or] threeoliveson the topmostbough,Four[or] fiveon the branchesof a fruitfultree,Declaresthe LORD,the Godof Israel.
For thusit will be in the midstof the earthamongthe peoples,As the shakingof an olivetree,As the gleaningswhenthe grapeharvestis over.
"Ifgrape gathererscameto you, Would they not leavegleanings?Ifthieves[came] by night,They would destroy[only] until they had enough.
For I am the LORDyour God.Consecrateyourselves therefore, and be holy,for I am holy.And you shall not makeyourselvesuncleanwith anyof the swarmingthingsthat swarmon the earth.
You shall not steal,nordealfalsely,norlieto oneanother.
In the fifthyearyou are to eatof its fruit,that its yieldmay increasefor you; I am the LORDyour God.
Now when you reapthe harvestof your land,you shall not reapto the very cornersof your field,norshall you gatherthe gleaningsof your harvest.
When you reapthe harvestof your land,moreover, you shall not reapto the very cornersof your fieldnorgatherthe gleaningof your harvest;you are to leavethem for the needyand the alien.I am the LORDyour God.'"
All of you shall havethe sabbath[products] of the landfor food;yourself, and your maleand femaleslaves,and your hiredmanand your foreignresident,those who liveas alienswith you.
"Ifthievescameto you, Ifrobbersby night--O howyou will be ruined!--Would they not steal[only] until they hadenough?Ifgrape gathererscameto you, Would they not leave[some] gleanings?
Woeis me! For I amLike the fruitpickers,like the grapegatherers.Thereis not a clusterof grapes to eat,[Or] a first-ripefig[which] I crave.
"Whenyou reapyour harvestin your fieldand have forgottena sheafin the field,you shall not gobackto getit; it shall be for the alien,for the orphan,and for the widow,in orderthat the LORDyour Godmay blessyou in allthe workof your hands.
"Whenyou beatyour olivetree,you shall not gooverthe boughsagain;it shall be for the alien,for the orphan,and for the widow.
"Whenyou gatherthe grapes of your vineyard,you shall not gooverit again;it shall be for the alien,for the orphan,and for the widow.
But he saidto them, "Whathave I donenowin comparison with you? Is not the gleaning[of the grapes] of Ephraimbetterthanthe vintageof Abiezer?
And Ruththe Moabitesssaidto Naomi,"Pleaselet me goto the fieldand gleanamong the earsof grainafterone in whosesightI may findfavor."And she saidto her, "Go,my daughter."
