The sonsof Israelsaidto them, "Wouldthat we had diedby the LORD'Shandin the landof Egypt,when we satby the potsof meat,when we atebreadto the full;for you have broughtus out into thiswildernessto killthiswholeassemblywith hunger."
You whowere fullof noise,You boisteroustown,you exultantcity;Your slainwere not slainwith the sword,Nordid they diein battle.
"They will dieof deadlydiseases,they will not be lamentedor buried;they will be as dungon the surfaceof the groundand cometo an endby swordand famine,and their carcasseswill becomefoodfor the birdsof the skyand for the beastsof the earth."
Your turbanswill be on your headsand your shoeson your feet.You will not mournand you will not weep,but you will rotawayin your iniquitiesand you will groanto oneanother.
"Now as for you, sonof man,sayto the houseof Israel,'Thusyou have spoken,saying,"Surelyour transgressionsand our sinsare upon us, and we are rottingawayin them; howthen can we survive?"'
Moreover, He saidto me, "Sonof man,behold,I am going to breakthe staffof breadin Jerusalem,and they will eatbreadby weightand with anxiety,and drinkwaterby measureand in horror,
The swordis outsideand the plagueand the famineare within.He whois in the fieldwill dieby the sword;famineand the plaguewill also consumethose in the city.
So those of you who may be leftwill rotawaybecause of their iniquityin the landsof your enemies;and alsobecause of the iniquitiesof their forefathersthey will rotawaywith them.
"Moreover, it shall eatthe offspringof your herdand the produceof your grounduntilyou are destroyed,whoalso leavesyou nograin,newwine,or oil,northe increaseof your herdor the youngof your flockuntilthey have caused you to perish.
