My strengthis driedup like a potsherd,And my tonguecleavesto my jaws;And You layme in the dustof death.
ThereforeMy peoplegointo exilefor their lackof knowledge;And their honorablemenare famished,And their multitudeis parchedwith thirst.
"Their nobleshave senttheir servantsfor water;They have cometo the cisternsand foundnowater.They have returnedwith their vesselsempty;They have beenputto shameand humiliated,And they covertheir heads.
Allher peoplegroanseekingbread;They have giventheir preciousthingsfor foodTo restoretheir livesthemselves. "See,O LORD,and look,For I amdespised."
Eventhe dustof your citywhich clingsto our feetwe wipe off[in protest] against you; yetbe sureof this,that the kingdomof Godhas come near.'
therefore you shall serveyour enemieswhomthe LORDwill sendagainst you, in hunger,in thirst,in nakedness,and in the lackof allthings;and He will putan ironyokeon your neckuntilHe has destroyedyou.
[They will be] wastedby famine,and consumedby plagueAnd bitterdestruction;And the teethof beastsI will sendupon them, With the venomof crawlingthingsof the dust.
