Then Joshuathe sonof Nunsenttwomenas spiessecretlyfrom Shittim,saying,"Go,viewthe land,especiallyJericho."So they wentand cameinto the houseof a harlotwhose namewas Rahab,and lodgedthere.
They saidto Joshua,"Surelythe LORDhas givenallthe landinto our hands;moreover,allthe inhabitantsof the landhave meltedawaybeforeus."
So the menpursuedthem on the roadto the Jordanto the fords;and as soonas those who were pursuingthem had goneout, they shutthe gate.
The captainof the LORD'Shostsaidto Joshua,"Removeyour sandalsfrom your feet,for the placewhereyou are standingis holy."And Joshuadidso.
The LORDsaidto Joshua,"See,I have givenJerichointo your hand,with its king[and] the valiantwarriors.
