They tookJesus,therefore,and He wentout, bearingHis owncross,to the place calledthe Placeof a Skull,whichis calledin Hebrew,Golgotha.
Abrahamtookthe woodof the burntofferingand laidit on Isaachis son,and he tookin his handthe fireand the knife.So the twoof them walkedon together.
Then the twoworthlessmencamein and satbeforehim; and the worthlessmentestifiedagainst him, even against Naboth,beforethe people,saying,"NabothcursedGodand the king."So they tookhim outsidethe cityand stonedhim to deathwith stones.
"Bringthe one who has cursedoutsidethe camp,and let allwho heardhim laytheir handson his head;then let allthe congregationstonehim.
"And he whodoes not takehis crossand followafterMe is not worthyof Me.
ThenJesussaidto His disciples,"Ifanyonewishesto comeafterMe, he must denyhimself,and takeup his crossand followMe.
And aboveHis headthey putup the charge againstHim which read,"THISIS JESUSTHE KINGOF THE JEWS."
Lookingat him, Jesusfelt a lovefor him and saidto him, "One thingyou lack:goand sellallyou possessand giveto the poor,and you will havetreasurein heaven;and come,followMe."
The inscriptionof the charge againstHim read,"THE KINGOF THE JEWS."
"Let [this] Christ,the Kingof Israel,nowcome downfrom the cross,sothat we may seeand believe!"Thosewho were crucifiedwith Him were alsoinsultingHim.
And He summonedthe crowdwith His disciples,and saidto them, "Ifanyonewishesto comeafterMe, he must denyhimself,and takeup his crossand followMe.
"Whoeverdoes not carryhis owncrossand comeafterMe cannotbe My disciple.
Whenthey led Him away,they seizeda man,Simonof Cyrene,comingin from the country,and placedon him the crossto carrybehindJesus.
Whenthey cameto the placecalledThe Skull,therethey crucifiedHim and the criminals,oneon the rightand the otheron the left.
Nowthere was alsoan inscriptionaboveHim, "THISIS THE KINGOF THE JEWS."
And He was sayingto [them] all,"Ifanyonewishesto comeafterMe, he must denyhimself,and takeup his crossdailyand followMe.
Thereforewhen Pilateheardthesewords,he broughtJesusout, and sat downon the judgment seatat a placecalledThe Pavement,but in Hebrew,Gabbatha.
Nowthere is in Jerusalemby the sheep[gate] a pool,which is calledin HebrewBethesda,havingfiveporticoes.
When they had drivenhim out of the city,they [began] stoning[him]; and the witnesseslaid asidetheir robesat the feetof a young mannamedSaul.
