Then they satdownto eata meal.And as they raisedtheir eyesand looked,behold,a caravanof Ishmaeliteswas comingfrom Gilead,with their camelsbearingaromaticgumand balmand myrrh,on their wayto bring[them] downto Egypt.
His possessionsalso were 7,000sheep,3000camels,500yokeof oxen,500femaledonkeys,and verymanyservants;and that manwas the greatestof allthe menof the east.
Woeis me, for I sojournin Meshech,For I dwellamongthe tentsof Kedar!
For I have heardthe slanderof many,Terroris on everyside;While they tookcounseltogetheragainstme, They schemedto takeaway my life.
It will neverbe inhabitedor livedin from generationto generation;Norwill the Arabpitch[his] tentthere,Norwill shepherdsmake [their flocks] liedownthere.
"Allthe flocksof Kedarwill be gatheredtogether to you, The ramsof Nebaiothwill ministerto you; They will goup with acceptanceon My altar,And I shall glorifyMy glorioushouse.
My tentis destroyed,And allmy ropesare broken;My sonshave gonefrom me and are nomore.Thereis nooneto stretchout my tentagainOr to setup my curtains.
Disasteron disasteris proclaimed,For the wholelandis devastated;Suddenlymy tentsare devastated,My curtainsin an instant.
"Whyhave I seen[it]? They are terrified,They are drawingback,And their mightymenare defeatedAnd have takenrefugein flight,Withoutfacingback;Terroris on everyside!"Declaresthe LORD.
"Damascushas becomehelpless;She has turnedaway to flee,And panichas grippedher; Distressand pangshave takenholdof her Like a woman in childbirth.
"Behold,I am going to bringterrorupon you," Declaresthe LordGODof hosts,"From all[directions] aroundyou; And eachof you will be drivenout headlong,With nooneto gatherthe fugitivestogether.
Do not goout into the fieldAnd do not walkon the road,For the enemyhas a sword,Terroris on everyside.
I sawthe tentsof Cushanunderdistress,The tentcurtainsof the landof Midianwere trembling.
[we are] afflictedin every way,but not crushed;perplexed,but not despairing;
For evenwhen we cameinto Macedoniaour fleshhadnorest,but we were afflictedon everyside: conflictswithout,fearswithin.
For they would comeup with their livestockand their tents,they would comein like locustsfor number,both they and their camelswere innumerable;and they cameinto the landto devastateit.
Now the Midianitesand the Amalekitesand allthe sonsof the eastwere lyingin the valleyas numerousas locusts;and their camelswere withoutnumber,as numerousas the sandon the seashore.
Then Zebahand Zalmunnasaid,"Riseup yourself,and fallon us; for as the man,so is his strength."So Gideonaroseand killedZebahand Zalmunna,and tookthe crescentornamentswhichwere on their camels'necks.
The weightof the goldearringsthat he requestedwas 1,700[shekels] of gold,besidesthe crescentornamentsand the pendantsand the purplerobeswhich[were] on the kingsof Midian,and besidesthe neckbandsthat [were] on their camels'necks.
