"Becauseyou have burnedsacrificesand have sinnedagainst the LORDand not obeyedthe voiceof the LORDor walkedin His law,His statutesor His testimonies,thereforethiscalamityhas befallenyou, as [it has] thisday."
"And they will say,Becausethey forsookthe LORDtheir God,whobroughttheir fathersout of the landof Egypt,and adoptedothergodsand worshipedthem and servedthem, thereforethe LORDhas broughtallthisadversityon them.'"
They rejectedHis statutesand His covenantwhichHe madewith their fathersand His warningswith whichHe warnedthem. And they followedvanityand becamevain,and [went] afterthe nationswhichsurroundedthem, concerning whichthe LORDhad commandedthem not to dolike them.
but they [continually] mockedthe messengersof God,despisedHis wordsand scoffedat His prophets,untilthe wrathof the LORDaroseagainst His people,untiltherewas noremedy.
"Did not your fathersdothe same,so that our Godbroughton us and on thiscityallthistrouble?Yet you are addingto the wrathon Israelby profaningthe sabbath."
My eyesshedstreamsof water,Becausethey do not keepYour law.Tsadhe.
Those who followafter wickednessdrawnear;They are farfrom Your law.
Salvationis farfrom the wicked,For they do not seekYour statutes.
They did not keepthe covenantof GodAnd refusedto walkin His law;
Yet they temptedand rebelledagainstthe MostHighGodAnd did not keepHis testimonies,
"And you will sayto them, 'Thussaysthe LORD,"Ifyou will not listento Me, to walkin My lawwhichI have setbeforeyou,
and the LORDhas brought[it] on and donejustas He promised.Becauseyou [people] sinnedagainst the LORDand did not listento His voice,therefore thisthinghas happenedto you.
"But they have not becomecontriteeven to thisday,norhave they fearednorwalkedin My lawor My statutes,whichI have setbeforeyou and beforeyour fathers."'
"But sincewe stoppedburningsacrificesto the queenof heavenand pouringout drinkofferingsto her, we have lackedeverythingand have metour endby the swordand by famine."
"Thussaysthe LORDof hosts,the Godof Israel,'You yourselveshave seenallthe calamitythat I have broughton Jerusalemand allthe citiesof Judah;and behold,thisdaythey are in ruinsand noonelivesin them,
"As for the smokingsacrificesthat you burnedin the citiesof Judahand in the streetsof Jerusalem,you and your forefathers,your kingsand your princes,and the peopleof the land,did not the LORDrememberthem and did not [all this] comeinto His mind?
becauseof their wickednesswhichthey committedso as to provokeMe to angerby continuingto burnsacrifices[and] to serveothergodswhomthey had not known,[neither] they, you, noryour fathers.
provokingMe to angerwith the worksof your hands,burningsacrificesto othergodsin the landof Egypt,whereyou are enteringto reside,sothat you might be cutoffand becomea curseand a reproachamong allthe nationsof the earth?
Jerusalemsinnedgreatly,Thereforeshe has becomean uncleanthing.Allwho honoredher despiseher Becausethey have seenher nakedness;Evenshe herselfgroansand turnsaway.
"As it is writtenin the lawof Moses,allthiscalamityhas comeon us; yet we have not soughtthe favorof the LORDour Godby turningfrom our iniquityand givingattentionto Your truth.
[No], but [I say] that the things whichthe Gentilessacrifice,they sacrificeto demonsand not to God;and I do not wantyou to becomesharersin demons.
Orwhatagreementhas the templeof Godwith idols?For we are the templeof the livingGod;justas Godsaid,"I WILL DWELLIN THEM AND WALK AMONGTHEM; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD,AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.
