saying,"No,but we will goto the landof Egypt,wherewe will not seewaror hearthe soundof a trumpetor hungerfor bread,and we will staythere";
The sonsof Israelsaidto them, "Wouldthat we had diedby the LORD'Shandin the landof Egypt,when we satby the potsof meat,when we atebreadto the full;for you have broughtus out into thiswildernessto killthiswholeassemblywith hunger."
But the peoplethirstedtherefor water;and they grumbledagainstMosesand said,"Why,now,have you broughtus up from Egypt,to killus and our childrenand our livestockwith thirst?"
And you said,"No,for we will fleeon horses,"Thereforeyou shall flee!"And we will rideon swift[horses]," Thereforethose who pursueyou shall be swift.
Who proceeddownto EgyptWithoutconsultingMe, To takerefugein the safetyof PharaohAnd to seekshelterin the shadowof Egypt!
Woeto those who godownto Egyptfor help[And] relyon horses,And trustin chariotsbecausethey are manyAnd in horsemenbecausethey are verystrong,But they do not lookto the HolyOneof Israel,norseekthe LORD!
My soul,my soul!I am in anguish!Oh,my heart!My heartis poundingin me; I cannotbe silent,Becauseyou have heard,O my soul,The soundof the trumpet,The alarmof war.
Howlongmust I seethe standardAnd hearthe soundof the trumpet?
And they wentand stayedin GeruthChimham,whichis besideBethlehem,in order to proceedinto Egypt
and they enteredthe landof Egypt(for they did not obeythe voiceof the LORD)and wentin as faras Tahpanhes.
"Whyis the LORDbringingus into thisland,to fallby the sword?Our wivesand our littleoneswill becomeplunder;would it not be betterfor us to returnto Egypt?"
So they saidto oneanother,"Let us appointa leaderand returnto Egypt."
"Is it not enoughthat you have broughtus up out of a landflowingwith milkand honeyto have us diein the wilderness,but you would alsolordit overus?
"Moreover,he shall not multiplyhorsesfor himself, norshall he cause the peopleto returnto Egyptto multiplyhorses,since the LORDhas saidto you, 'You shall neveragainreturnthat way.'
"It shall be when he hearsthe wordsof thiscurse,that he will boast,saying,'I havepeacethoughI walkin the stubbornnessof my heartin orderto destroythe watered[land] with the dry.'
