Yet KingZedekiahsentJehucalthe sonof Shelemiah,and Zephaniahthe sonof Maaseiah,the priest,to Jeremiahthe prophet,saying,"Pleaseprayto the LORDour Godon our behalf."
The kingsaidto the manof God,"Pleaseentreatthe LORDyour God,and prayfor me, that my handmay be restoredto me." So the manof Godentreatedthe LORD,and the king'shandwas restoredto him, and it becameas it was before.
"Nowtherefore, pleaseforgivemy sinonlythisonce,and makesupplicationto the LORDyour God,that He would onlyremovethisdeathfrom me."
Pharaohsaid,"I will letyou go,that you may sacrificeto the LORDyour Godin the wilderness;onlyyou shall not govery faraway. Makesupplicationfor me."
Then Pharaohcalledfor Mosesand Aaronand said,"Entreatthe LORDthat He removethe frogsfrom me and from my people;and I will letthe peoplego,that they may sacrificeto the LORD."
"Makesupplicationto the LORD,for there has been enoughof God'sthunderand hail;and I will letyou go,and you shall staynolonger."
The LORDsaid,"SurelyI will setyou freefor [purposes of] good;SurelyI will cause the enemyto makesupplicationto you In a timeof disasterand a timeof distress.
Who sayto a tree,'You are my father,'And to a stone,'You gaveme birth.'For they have turned[their] backto Me, And not [their] face;But in the timeof their troublethey will say,'Ariseand saveus.'
"Thussaysthe LORDof hosts,the Godof Israel,concerningAhabthe sonof Kolaiahand concerningZedekiahthe sonof Maaseiah,who are prophesyingto you falselyin My name,'Behold,I will deliverthem into the handof Nebuchadnezzarkingof Babylon,and he will slaythem before your eyes.
"Thussaysthe LORDof hosts,the Godof Israel,'Becauseyou have sentlettersin your own nameto allthe peoplewhoare in Jerusalem,and to Zephaniahthe sonof Maaseiah,the priest,and to allthe priests,saying,
Now KingZedekiahsentand tookhim [out]; and in his palacethe kingsecretlyaskedhim and said,"Is therea wordfrom the LORD?"And Jeremiahsaid,"Thereis!" Then he said,"You will be giveninto the handof the kingof Babylon!"
"Thussaysthe LORDGodof Israel,Thusyou are to sayto the kingof Judah,who sentyou to Me to inquireof Me: "Behold,Pharaoh'sarmywhich has comeout for your assistanceis going to returnto its own landof Egypt.
Now Shephatiahthe sonof Mattan,and Gedaliahthe sonof Pashhur,and Jucalthe sonof Shelemiah,and Pashhurthe sonof Malchijahheardthe wordsthat Jeremiahwas speakingto allthe people,saying,
Then allthe commandersof the forces,Johananthe sonof Kareah,Jezaniahthe sonof Hoshaiah,and allthe peoplebothsmalland greatapproached
For you have [only] deceivedyourselves;for it is you who sentme to the LORDyour God,saying,"Prayfor us to the LORDour God;and whateverthe LORDour Godsays,tellus so,and we will doit."
Then the captainof the guardtookSeraiahthe chiefpriestand Zephaniahthe secondpriest,with the threeofficersof the temple.
So the peoplecameto Mosesand said,"We have sinned,becausewe have spokenagainst the LORDand you; intercedewith the LORD,that He may removethe serpentsfrom us." And Mosesintercededfor the people.
But Simonansweredand said,"Prayto the Lordfor me yourselves,sothat nothingof whatyou have saidmay comeupon me."
Then allthe peoplesaidto Samuel,"Prayfor your servantsto the LORDyour God,so that we may not die,for we have addedto allour sins[this] evilby askingfor ourselves a king."
